so my gf got me this xm radio for valentines day.
at first i was like....ehhhhh ok an xm radio, big deal....not somethin i'd ask for myself, but ok.
So I start messin with it and it lets me broadcast on fm frequencies to my radio.
Now this is neat.
This guy at work, constantly turns his radio up real loud to the point that it annoys everyone else....well it annoys me anyways.
So I use my normal radio at my desk to hunt down which station he's listening to, and I set my xm radio to broadcast on that frequency, so it f***s his radio up and makes it nothin but static.
And when he changes his station, I do it again ^^

Can't you make it so plays something? The "I'm looking at gay porn" website comes to mind.

For music, XM beats Sirius hands-down. More stations and they have much deeper playlists.

How much does Sirus cost, and how much for the equipment? Just wondering. And is there anyway to listen to Sirus from your computer without having to get all that shit ass equipment? Like I would love to listen to Howard at work, or when I am doing shit on my PC at home. The local station here picked up some a*****e who I would punch in the face if I met IRL, he sucks so bad.

sirius is $12.95 for the first one. 6.95 for each one after. That's for all channels. I think XM for all channels is like $18.95.
the starmate replay is like $80. you can get cheaper ones.
You can listen via the web but you dont get all channels like shoutcast. mostly just music for now. they are adding howard soon.
The FM broadcaster on the starmate goes 20-40 feet. so any FM radio will work. much like khraths XM.

Well damn thats something I should really look into, well at least once they add Howard Stern via the net. Thats the only real time I listen to the radio is when infront of the computer at home or at work. I have DirectTV which uses XM radio as their music provider, was p****d about that, called them and told them they need to switch to Sirus for Howard!
Killer is that XM is paying what 55mil a year to have that fat b***h on XM, to go against Howard Stern. Howard is most likey making the same as he was at K-Rock and he owns shares in Sirus, so ofcourse he is going to try and make it a better system. No matter if you like him or hate him, Howard is a genus when it comes to braodcasting. I MISS HIM!

Hey Leo, wait till Howard unveils that he's only going to be working 4 days a week on top of taking a few months off per year. Thank god they're paying him 500 MILLION for that!

What's so appealing about listening to Howard Stern? I remember seeing his show that was on TV awhile back and all he had was people farting and disabled people trying to convey ideas. Is it the Jerry Springer type appeal?

Depending on your plan, Sirius is like $9 to $13 per month. You can use the streaming radio via web (Firefox / IE both work fine).
I bought my gf the car adapter + receiver for $99 @ Christmas. The boombox was another $99. It takes the same receiver. Really nice to play indoors during chores or cleaning or cooking.
XM and Sirius are the same thing to me. I picked the one with the cuter logo.

the little doggie company.
XM has better hardware though. Sirius still havn't come up with a working portable unit. XM's had one on the market for a year (the MyFi) and now Pioneer is releasing a new version that's not just a portable unit but it's also an MP3 player ala - Ipod.
By portable player, I mean it has an antenna inside of it and WILL recieve live broadcasts without docking it onto another unit. Beat that, Sirius!

They said at first they weren't going to offer Howard over the web, because they said people would give out the login info and people would be pirating the signal. Dont know if they changed their mind or not.
I have XM, I read a music forum and people were saying how much they liked the XMs deeper playlist, and it was from people that have both. I think the XM playlist is maybe too deep sometimes, on some channels. I have thought about getting a Sirius to see if I like it better.

If you call the sirius 800 # it says howard is going to soon be on the web.
If you look on XMs web site, they hide and make it almost impossible to see what the total price is for ALL channels. but it's around $18+ IIRC after adding playboy and O&A unless that's changed in the past few months
so many people are leaving XM in an exodus that they made a conversion kit for XM to Sirius for cars http://www.crutchfield.com/S-k9UqWh1QoUP/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=607SIRGM1
I dont listen to howard =P

I dont think you have to pay for O&A anymore, and I personally think wanting to hear the playboy channel is retarded. the price is pretty much even, they just offer different sports/programming.
Could be wrong, but I know the price I pay is at most $1 off of Sirius.

I only pay $9.99 a month for XM, and I'm only missing the Playboy channel. XM came with my car free for three months, and they offered me a lower rate to extend the contract. It's usually $12.95.
I love XM and won't ever listen to regular radio again. I listen mainly to the electronica stations and comedy, I couldn't care less about radio sports (national announcers are hacks anyways) or Howard Stern (who has been on 'repeat' since 1995).

it's garbage. It's chicks who are on one of playboy TV's shows who like... talk to people. O&A make fun of it all the time, 'cause their show gives the same content and for free. Waste of $$
