Xbox 360s all the way Mate,
Although make sure you sign up your details right and such if you get live ETC as microsoft are idiots as they cahnged my country and wouldnt change it back eventually they did and i got 4000 ms points free As that say xbox live support is pretty bad
but xbox is cheaper than ps3 if im right and also HALO 3 baby 
But i think ps3 = more movie/enterainment
xbox 360 = Gaming

I think it's a preference in games. Graphics wise I believe both the PS3 and Xbox360 are capable of similar graphics. I personally like the PS3, the controllers are more comfortable and I'm just a Sony fan.

I have a 360 and think it's a better GAME console. If I was to buy today not having either, I'd have to choose the PS3. BR of coarse with game console as the secondary.

Well PS3 is more like a prospect investment. It may not be hot now, but what's to come looks ridiculous. Look at the graphics on the new final fantasy http://www.rpgfan.com/pics/ff13/ss-002.jpg. PS3 has more hardware potential than xbox period.
However, the reason XBOX is strong is because of its online gaming community, relatively easy compatibility with other media devices, and strong list of game titles. Its been crapping out a lot of titles, and quite a few of them have been good. The online community is vast, so underpopulation isn't really a problem. The system itself however is known to crap out a lot. You will hear about "red rings of death", Microsoft just broke even because of the money they spent on recalls. But regardless, solid choice of games, not creme of the crop system itself though.
Some well done titles will be rolling out for ps3, nothing published has been near the potential of ps3 hardware, which is why I await the courageous company that does put all the work into it. Metal Gear is a solid title, but we need more of its kind. But for now if you want to shit out your money on a bunch of games fast, go with xbox.

Right now 360 but soon PS3 will blow it out the water since the new games are rolling in. Just remember GTA was restricted because of the shittie xbox, imagine whats gonna happen when they say f**k xbox and their shittie dvd's

It seems like right now PS3 has some really good games out, on top of that the Blueray player is a really good addition. I currently own a 360 and I am debating about selling it or not.

without a doubt the 360 because of gow2 and cod5 this month and fable 2 just came out and saints row 2 came out in october and 360 has a little better graphics and gameplay that ps3. Only reason people still play ps3 is because they are loyal to the what they grew up playing. Like me i grew up with sega and nintendo 64 and namco's pacman. Only reason i went up to 360 is because of online gameplay since theirs not one game thats bad online except 4 saints row's series and gta4. You can't get good online play on a single shooter.
