I've been a squad leader on a few servers having a great time guys spawning with me coordinating attack locations ect.
All this being very successfull ... until i put down a defend here symbol with in 5mins the squad all scatters to other areas.
the thing that kills me is the area selected to defend is still getting lots of heat and is a choke point for the rest of the map.
Anyone else noticed people dont' like defending even when it makes sense to?

It's rare to find people who will actually play as a team. Follow the 80/20 rule. Though in online games I would guess it's more like 95/5. 95% of the people do 5% of the work and 5% of the people do 95% of the work.

Defending is fun, especially playing the support class. If you find some good spots with open fields of fire, people will fear you!

Dude if the server you are playing on is a ranked server, well thats the problem. While you still a little bit of points for defending, you get more assaulting. So people want to flag run, not sit on their ass and defend.
Repeat after me, ranked servers blow~

I find that lots of people just join squads for the extra spawn point and meritorious ribbon
Also defending is gay because if you put a lot of little red dots in the same area you're just gonna get ass f****d by art

Also joining a squad where the members are using VoIP is fantastic, if you're shy.. get over yourself. Those people aren't gonna bite you or anything. With VoIP you can voice your concerns about defending the flag you just took much clearer then typing it out or having your squad leader put the purple marker down.

I seriously dont care if my team wins or not, I want to be #1 in points, and I don't need a team for that.
On non ranked servers, defending is fine, but on ranked servers, it's a waste of time.

Also someone in another thread asked how you get air defense medal or something like that. To get that bomb every enemy at a flag thats be turned over, you wont get it unless every enemy dies and the flag hasnt been turned over to them yet.

Agreed. I fall into this 5% category, I kickass. It's extremely frustrating to be doing ALL THE WORK (especially as a freaking medic), while the rest of your team jerks off and team kills. I only have the demo though ;p buying the full version this week...
