what is Eve Online about?

I cannot figure out what is Eve Online about. I just do not understand the point of this game and it seems I never will. I never played it, but I have read about the game quite a lot. So far, I did not manage to understand the whole concept of the game, and what a player must do to finish this game. I am not a passionate player, so I do not spend very much playing them. Would anybody tell me something?

If you want to figure out what the Eve Online is about, you must know how the MMORPG is played. The word I have written stands for Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. You play with and against large number of players over the internet. It is just one side to this kind of games. You must improve you character and the stats. That way you are getting better and stronger and you can fight with tougher opponents. Eve Online is the best game from this genre, and I play it for a long time now. You must try it, and then you will know what it is about.

The core of the game is basically domination of various player groups (corporations and alliances) over other player groups. Fighting for resources and wealth etc. As other MMOs it has no ending, you'll never wake up and do something to find the game over screen, well, at least not till servers shut down one day

EVE is a great game for the casual player, because the skill training is based on real time, on or off line. This is great for a casual player, but if you want to eventually compete on a high level, you may never be able to, because it is based on real time, so you will never catch someone who has been playing since day one.
