Student Charged in College Professor's Slaying
AP
University of Texas piano professor Danielle Martin
AUSTIN, Texas (April 30) - A University of Texas graduate student was charged with murder Friday after police said he used a meat cleaver to kill an acclaimed piano professor.
Jackson Fan Chun Ngai was holding the cleaver and standing near the body of Danielle J. Martin when police arrived at Martin's home after receiving a 911 call Thursday night, assistant police chief Robert Dahlstrom said.
When he refused to put the weapon down, an officer fired a Taser gun at him and he was taken into custody, Dahlstrom said.
The 22-year-old student was charged Friday with murder and held on $1 million bond, police spokeswoman Laura Albrecht said.
University spokesman Don Hale said Martin, 56, had multiple sclerosis and used a scooter to get around. Ngai, an applied music graduate student, had assisted Martin in getting to and from campus, Hale said.
"A teacher is a gift to life; thus we are all diminished in this moment of tragedy," university president Larry Faulkner said.
Martin, a native of New York, joined the UT faculty in 1972 and headed the keyboard division in the School of Music. She was critically acclaimed for her artistry and versatility as a solo recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist, the university said in a news release.
She performed and taught throughout the United States, in Canada, Mexico, Korea and Jamaica and was heard in radio broadcasts throughout Europe, the university said.

some people :\. I think the aim of gun controll (no pun intended) is to make it more difficult for gang bangers and criminals to obtain guns, because obviously people like this meat cleaver tard are going to find a way to kill regardless, but in terms of criminals or gangs it is a lot more difficult to do a drive by shooting or a robbery with a knife. I mean it's such a travesty to force people to wait 5 days to legally buy a gun!

Suicide Commando is SC. Crappy name I'd have to admit but they do have some unique effects in their sound that's worth being noted. Lyrics aren't that good though, and yeah VNV gets boring. Cruxshadows gets like that too, for me at least. Btw we're annihilating the point of this thread, LOL >.<.

The idea behind gun control is to reduce, key word right there, REDUCE violent crime. Not eliminate all violent crime and make it impossible to kill someone.
Though as far as I know, all gun control does is reduce violent crimes commited with guns, and raise the amnt of violent crimes commited with er other stuff, though it does seem it'd be just a little bit harder to commit said violent crimes, with the other stuff, so I would imagine the incidences of violent crimes on the whole would be less with some form of gun control then without it.
Of course, state wide gun laws arn't that great an idea really... cause you've got some areas that really need them, and some that're much better off having all their citizens armed, as they're the kinda folks who know wtf they're doing with guns, and'r more likely to use'm to prevent crimes then commit them.
So er, in summation, less guns isn't the answer! Putting the guns out there in the hands of the Kbarrs is!
