god damnit, the network has taken a shit on me at the stage where you need to download 2185 files like 10 times now. What makes it worse is the 7170 some files that you have to download before it. Getting annoying as all hell. Do these files happen to be in a different directory that someone could upload to r00t or direct connect with me?
Gonna try it like 2-3 more times before taking the game back to wal-mart. Like 4-5 hours has been spent on downloading/registering shit up to this point, couldn't they package this stuff with the american version of the game?

Dude, it's downloading stuff that I already have, it looks like.
Either way it takes forever and a half and always loses connection, is there a way around it?
I tried contacting tech support, but wouldn't you know it, when I try to submit the form it gives me f*****g connection problems.

Now everytime I try to log on, it takes me back to the Service & Support screen and says 'Now Loading' like it's trying to send my petition thing. This blows.

That's the thing. I had zero problems installing from the discs and am not really thrilled about the idea of doing the PlayOnline patch again.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.

it took me almost 18 hours to get patched and ready to play on 56k dialup, s****y dialup at that, i had no problems installing, or patching, not disconnected once, started the night i bought the game and ended midway the next day, not sure what to tell you, and my internet is pretty s****y too so would hate to imagine yours if its that bad, unless its just having problems

what the f**k in real life
it failed again since last posting so I decided to reinstall the game. The connection I'm getting to their server is the suck.
Some of these 5 kb files are taking upwards of 10 minutes to download. When they do download, it jumps from 0-100. But the next file will just sit at either 0 and do nothing or jump to 100 and do nothing.
Maybe it's just the east coast.

Ok, now I'm having an obscene amount of trouble with the 68 files that you need to update for playonline.
These files are mostly less than 5KB in size and at this rate it will take all week to finish. The few larger files (polcore.dll @ a whopping 285K) take even longer but seem to download smoother once they finally get going.
Still getting stuck on 0% and 100% for damn near every file though. Should I even try to continue if this is gonna be how my connection to Japan is gonna be? The game certainly wouldn't be playable at these speeds and losing conn. every 15 seconds.
Off to dig through the trashcan for the receipt..

Ok.. after thinking about it a bit, I think I might have an idea what the problem is.
This network doesn't like kazaa or any file trading programs at all. Friends in other dorms, though, get kazaa, piolet, winmx just fine.
I can play all online games just fine so far (battlenet, eq, bf1942, etc) but there's some restriction on certain file sharing programs. I would be willing to bet that this is what's causing it to drop connection 99% of the time.
Anyone know how to get around this? If all else fails, I guess I could take my HD to a friend's PC and download it from a network which doesn't block that kinda stuff.
Sucks

I bet what's causing it to drop is that you can't leave your f*****g computer alone, I notice that you are always saying oh man just after I posted it dropped etc etc, LET IT DO IT'S THING, LEAVE IT ALONE.

.....
For those times when you wish you had a 'delete IRL' button.
....
Anyone that can read have any idea how to get around the blocked ports?
They're put in place to keep kazaa from working and it's somehow keeping me from getting a decent connection from PlayOnline. Of this I am certain. I just don't have a clue what to do about it. I found an option to disable timing out from the network. It was set on 20 minutes just to give you an idea. I turned it off completely and now I'm clipping along at a blazing speed of .08 KB/sec.
File 1271 of 1293 to go. (it's been going for at least 2 hours now)
