Thats the most horrible thing ive ever seen. Those of you that made fun of these people and said they "deserved it" are all a******s.
I feel like crying that is so damn sad. Those are peoples kids and parents. Think of the sickness and smell in the air there right now. I hope the new strands of disease from this will carry over to the US and kill only those of you that were so callus and thoughtless about this.
Remember, this is ONE EARTH. We all share the air and the water. This effects all of us.

That's pretty terrible.

Not to be morbid, but I can't picture exactly what killed all those people. Obviously they drowned, but why exactly? Was it just that they all couldn't swim? But there must have been huge amounts of floating wood and trees and stuff to grab onto. Did it wash people miles out to sea, and then wash them back in again days later? Or did it hold them underwater for a really long time? I could sort of see a few people getting smacked in the head and knocked unconcious, but I just can't picture exactly what happened to everyone.

Doesn't matter if you know how to swim or not, imagine tons of water hitting you at 100mph in the open....then knocking you into trees, cars, buildings, boats, etc... all the while tumbling you around like in a whirlpool.

There were many people as far away as the maldives who when the water hit them it literally blasted their clothes off of them. This isn't like falling in the pool and drowning because you can't swim.

^^

Surfers are outstanding swimmers and they are killed by getting crushed under waves 1/10 this size sometimes.

It's about economy. Imagine if these giant tsunamis had hit Colombia. The cocaine market would be crushed and prices would skyrocket. Imagine if Japan had been plowed under by tsunamis. Where would we get 95% of our electronics and 1/2 of our cars?

I feel for them, but these things happen, especially if you live in areas where these things tend to happen. I understand that most of them are too poor to leave, but it is what it is. People die every day. Granted, most are from old age or smoking or cancer or whatever, but people die, it's a fact of life. I'm more concerned for the kids over there without parents than I am anyone that died, because they're in a better place right now, while their orphaned kids are in a far, far worse place than the rathole they were living in before the tsunami hit.

That's part of the reason I live in Indiana. It's boring, cold in the winter, and hot in the summer, but it's very unlikely I'll be killed by some sort of natural disaster. I'm out of the way of the truly horrible tornados in tornado alley, and even so, much like the lottery, I have a very slim chance of being hit by one. I would encourage all of you along the ocean or on a fault line to move further inland. You don't need to fish for your supper anymore, so it's safe to go inland.

sinrakin has never been to the beach I guess

Ever been to Niagra falls?

Imagine going over the falls, being pinned at the bottom by the force of all the water. Now imagine that there are things like houses, cars, bicycles, canadians, and animals......ALL LANDING ON YOUR HEAD as the go over the falls.

Thats what these people went through, only they didn't have the actual falls part. The force behind the Tidal Wave was stronger than the force of the water right before it plunges over niagra falls.

If you've never seen niagra falls, and never been to the beach, just imagine moving back and forth in a full bath tub, with a shampoo bottle stuck up your ass.

It's nothing like that, but you need to spice things up some, you're boring

If something like this happened in the U.S. everyone and their mother would be throwing out the word "tragedy."

Only when it happens to someone else could it be funny.

I look forward to the day Scrabler stops comming to Realpoor, after someone totally destroys his sense of self worth out there in reality.

It really is fun to see the ignorant, self inflated destroyed by reality.

it would take such a force to take those out I think Cali could be whiped clean for the most part and the redwoods would survive.

it's kind of like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute and hitting the water at 670km per hour with debri in the water that will grind you like hamburger.
