I don't follow sports, but I keep hearing it on the radio.
I guess the 49'ers and some other team are going to play, and the loser gets a top pick?
Does that mean the entire game is going to be intentionally trying to pass to the opposing team, dropping the ball "accidently" repeatedly, and the only scoring coming from them giving eachother safety's?
That sounds like it might actually be entertaining. Or are there rules to prevent all that?

Being men, professional football players, they will play to win.
The coach was hired to win.
The fans want them to win.
No one wants to be a loser.
They won't try to blow it.
In the end, the shittiest team in the NFL will get a fast n****r and the second shittiest team will get a smart white kid.

If the Niners pick Reggie Bush I will slap them. They need to trade their number 1 pick because there is much work to be done. Why get Reggie Bush when you have already invested in Maurice Hicks and Frank Gore? (time to dump Barlow so these guys can shine)

SF is gonna blow it and beat St Louis this week, and Houston won't draft Reggie Bush, they'll trade down for more picks. I see Bush still going first but to someplace like Detroit, Arizona, or Tennesee.

Detroit sure could use Young to give Harrington/Garcia competition. I doubt they'd go for Bush as Jones looks promising at times.

The 9ers won't pass up on Reggie and who can blame them since he's the 2nd coming of Marshall Faulk. The marketing department will also have a field day in promoting the reunion of Alex Smith and Bush who both played together at Helix High School in San Diego...

Bleh. I've seen too many Ki-jana Carters, Lawrence Phillips and Ron Daynes to put all my hopes in college RBs.

I think that the first pick is more of a curse than a blessing. You pay twice as much for them as anybody else in the draft and it is a total crap shoot. When whas the last time the #1 pick turned things around for a team. Manning back in 98 or whenever he came out? Honestly I can't even remember who the top picks were. Even Mike Vick is a superstar only because the media wants him to be so badly.
That said, if Reggie Bush is as special as people think he is you would be stupid to pass him up for a 3 mediocre guys, but it is a crap shoot. I think the ideal situation for the 9ers would be to get the top pick and find another team that has bought into the Bush craze so much taht they will trade half their draft picks for him. People are calling him the biggest sure thing in a long time as far as draft picks go in a long time, but everybody's heard that before. Bush and Smith, if they turn out, could be a mainstay of SF's offense for years but they really need a non-swiss cheese based O-line for both of them to play behind before they're gonna do too much. SF drafted their smart white kid last year, so Leinart won't go #2 if Houston takes Bush unless the 9ers trade their pick. Leinart probably screwed himself by staying another year at USC. If he had come out last year after winning the Heisman people might be talking about a Leinart/Bush reunion at SF next year hehe.
And to answer Okami's question, yes, the #1 pick in the draft goes to the team with the worst record, and assuming both of the current last place teams lose this week, which they probably will, then they (by coincidence) will play each other in the last game of the season. The loser of that game will get the #1 pick and the winner will get the #2. Since the win is only meaningful from a morale standpoint, I guarantee that there will be a lot of fans in the stands hoping for an SF loss at that game. I don't really think that the team would try to throw the game though.

I think the 9'ers vs. Texans game will be funny. They are both gunna be playing like crap to get Reggie, although neither of them need him.

Try Carson Palmer..the Bengals are rocking since he got the starting job this year.

You clearly know nothing. Leinart had to have surgery on his arm after the season last year. He would not have gone high in the draft. Coming back this year was the best thing he could do. He showed his arm was fine after surgery, and posted better stats than he did last year.

Palmer does look like the real deal, but how many #1 picks has Cincinatti had?
And yeah I didn't know about Leinart having surgery, I don't watch college football. All I knew was that he won the Hiesman and some sports radio dude the other night said he would have been the #1 pick overall if he had come out last year.

Yes, but that took like 4 years. The Niners have Alex Smith to wait 4 years with (or less) and Frank Gore. I won't cry if they pick Bush, but I'd prefer help in other positions.

You can't tie in football can you?
I thought they went to overtime or something. And eventually into a sudden death scoring.

They do in college but I think in the NFL if you are still tied after OT then it's a tie. P4P was probably talking about tying record wise for the draft pick though, in which case the #1 pick would go to the team whose opponents had the best record.

Yes, it's a crap shoot but it's hard to pass up on someone who may come once in a decade or so. I think it's more of a risk not to take Bush. Anyway as for Number 1 picks, there have been a few good ones over the years such as: 2004 Eli Manning, 2003 Carson Palmer, 2001 Michael Vick, 1998 Peyton Manning, 1997 Orlando Pace , 1996 Keyshawn Johnson (Okay, maybe not him..=p) , 1993 Drew Bledsoe, 1989 Troy Aikman , 1987 Vinny Testaverde , 1986 Bo Jackson , 1985 Bruce Smith, 1984 Irving Fryar, 1983 *John Elway, 1978 *Earl Campbell , 1976 *Lee Roy Selmon, 1975 Steve Bartkowski, 1974 Ed 'Too Tall' Jones, 1971 Jim Plunkett, 1970 *Terry Bradshaw, 1969 *O.J. Simpson, 1968 *Ron Yary, 1967 Bubba Smith, 1962 Roman Gabriel, 1957 *Paul Hornung, etc...
Most ot those listed above were above average players during their careers if not Hall of Famers...

You can tie in the regular season of an NFL game. You get one OT and that's it.

They need a college style overtime instead of the s****y system they have now. Whoever gets the ball first almost always wins.

If they tie record wise, the opponents win% is the determining factor.
