It's about his time to depart from this world. His body is getting worn, and tired.

Farewell Kireol.

I don't get the reason behind this kind of science... unless it's purely for science sake.

Why is living longer better?

Hey Cele, Xthos here not Des, just moved into our new house and only got her cpu up so far. I would say this would be very good for space travel when and if we ever start doing that and try to transport people, maybe? Otherwise we would just have 1 trillion people heh.

If you read the article it said that they don't expect a working method to expand the life of a human, more so than make it so our cells don't age. We won't become decrepid older people whom are bed ridden and the like. We'll just be old with younger, more healthy bodies.

So yeah.

Why wouldn't you want to live longer? Do you hate being alive? Or maybe you believe one of the fairy tales that your "soul" will live on in a paradise - including a stripper factory and beer volcano?

Incredible longevity is coming in the next century or so, it's inevitable. The evolution of our species will make a paradigm shift - to a self-engineered, technological evolution. We will discover we never had control over the process - we simply delayed it through irrational attachment to a purely biological existence. Those that reject the changes will be kept around for sentimental reasons, but their extinction is also inevitable. The future belongs to a species that can take advantage of every resource (material and conceptual) available - not one that is limited to 5 senses, ingesting carbon and inhaling oxygen. It's not a question of "if?", and barely a question of "when?" - it is coming, and soon.

Anyway, time to start working on my portfolio to buy anti-aging gene therapy!

Hell, we can't even get into the stop smoking/gorging on junk food stage. What makes you think we're going to go that far to take care of our bodies?
