Thats stupid.
For travel, take a Griffin, they are free (There are 3 alone in Antonica) or ask someone for a run speed buff. Half of the classes have one.
As for finding shit ... You have a map. You have Waypoints (alt-w). You can ask any guard and they will point give you a wavepoint (right click them) and if your talking about finding something for a quest, read the journal. Unless your an idiot, it gives you hints about the location that a 5 year old can decipher. |
I'm talking about the city retard. And yes they are far too large for whats in them. |
Traveling in the city? Take the bell thats located in each section of the city (- 1 or 2) It will take you to just about any section inside AND a few zones outside the city. Almost every zone in the Qeynos/Freeport is adjacent to each other in some way. You can also take The Down Below, which is connected to every section.
Finding things in the city is easier, sence guards (who will give you a waypoint to other NPC's in the same zone) are everywhere, and alt+w or the map will show all important buildings.
Qeynos and Freeport are bigger now, but its not harder to travel or find things in EQ2 than EQ1, and unless you have a s****y connection or computer, it doesnt take long to move from one side of a city zone, to the other.
NOW im calling him an idiot.

Getting around in EQ2 is pretty simple. I got used to it pretty fast. It's all about using your map in town, the mariner's bell, and the guards.
Oh yeah. Commonlands is f****n' huge! =/
Also, Frax, Logz0r on sometime

Are you honestly assuming I didn't figure out all of the above on my own before deciding that the cities zones are a bunch of b******t? Just because you enjoy the shit this game is serving up like its your newest crack hit, doesn't mean everyone else has to enjoy it. The game does have some nice things, but the city layouts aren't it. Original EQ had far better layouts and still does for many things.
I run EQ2 on a 2.8ghz PIV, 1GB RAM, with a Nvidia 6800 GT 256MB video card over cablemodem (swings his epenix computer stats around whee look at me) or on a Dell XPS laptop 3.4GHZ with 1GB of ram and an ATI 9700 Mobile. It runs fine on both.
And no Rennol, I doubt i'll be logging on EQ2 much at all. WoW on tuesday and its already proven to me that its just flat out more fun than EQ2. Gameplay > Graphics anyday.

Frax owns... EQ2 cities are kinda big, and runspeed is slow, but I was trying to rember if EQ1 before run3/run5 / sowpots etc/ rightclick jesus was around, and sprint kinda makes the travel go faster I guess, I like EQ1 layouts more though

run speed is faster in eq2 than eq1. just try running across karana's without sow. lay outs rule, except for the cities with a big wall down the center of them like n fp. maping is way better also.
i mean seriously, what could you like in eq1 better than eq2? i haven't found anything i miss in eq1 yet.

only thing that's p****d me off about this game so far is idiots...and i'm not saying EQ1 didn't have them..
But the one I hate the most, is these f*****s who, when we get in trouble say something to the extent of "Run guys i'm going to sacrafice myself for the group, and give everyone exp debt!!!"
Then the cleric sits there and tries to heal him when he has 20% mana (or should I say power) left and then the warrior dies, and the idiot cleric dies for staying there, so there is more exp debt. Then you have the idiot who'll stop thinking the mobs are off of him, even though he just ran for only 5 seconds, he dies, gives me more exp debt. Then once we all get back togeather and start hunting again, it's rinse and repeat.
^^^^
yes that happened to me last night, and i'm still p****d about it. I hate Stormhold.

You need to learn to disband before that happens, Haphasto! If everyone is running for their lives and someone is low life, disband.

its such a group friendly game!
edit, i hit enter too soon: This is the same company that has bent over backwards to equalize everything in EQ so "everyone can tank" or "everyone can heal almost the same" etc. I find it ironic that it has a negative death xp penalty like this that affects other people.

The worst review so far has been gamespots...I just kept laughing at how wrong they were the whole time reading it. I mean do these people play for 1 hour, quit, and review? |
load times for me after timing them since the post are generally about 8 seconds for me, sometimes lower and the odd time I had a 10 second zone into large place like TS or Commonlands with a full zone of people
if that is bad load time then f**k me I have no problems with the load times at all
I have no problems with the game at all except for the odd bug here and there which is to be expected

Some people just can't appreciate f**k all ever
Really if the cities were a 1/4 of the size everyone would b***h they are too small.
If you figure out which zones get you to which part of each city where you zone in from you really can cut down on your run time from place to place if you are smart about the path you take.
It is a f*****g city and it should be huge and when you get more levels it is even easier to move from spot to spot in a zone with a ability/spell called escape
The game is 100 times better then EQ1 hands down

This is what I don't understand - why does every NPC have to give you something or do something relevant to the game
it's a city there should be people living in it that don't have to give you a quest to make you more UBER

One of my pals is playing, and honestly, he just isn't good. When we fight, he over-aggroes with his spells, and when we run he almost always dies. He's the kind of guy who dies while running back to his corpse, the kind of guy who dies on the way to Temple of Veeshan. He's just not used to EQ.
The point is, I hate group exp. debt.

pickup groups are shit...i just can't stand playing with people i don't know well enuff to know if they are any good.
ie in fg ...second tank in a week that doesn't seem to know how to taunt
pet class caster that doesn't have assisting MA figured out.
crazy ass priest that figures he can run past double up arrow orange mobs cuz of group stealth even tho the names are outlined in red
end result 1 orange bub full of red exp dept in less then an hour of play..and i only died once ..after that fled back to the comfort of ROF guild groupage.
then with izzeren/aumaar/maija/simplistik/timos and me proceeded to smoke thru white/blue/orange double up group mobs and didn't even blink taking out a double up orange X2 group encounter with one group..
btw Bloodystone Valley instance has insane exp and great loot. collect as many harness as you can find and only use one at a time so you can group can keep going back in.

Im not a big fan of the group xp debt shit. Having your whole group wipe is pretty much the equivelent of getting f****d in the ass without vaseline.
Really discourages groups from trying new things and encourages bottom feeding for safe xp.

How about this? DONT SUCK AT THE GAME
The difference between killing all yellow and killing greens and blues is so staggering. Get together 2 healers and go to town.

It's easy enough to control if I suck or not, but I have no control over what my group members do or don't do.
