Im thinking about getting a tattoo on my right shoulder but i have no f*****g clue on what...
anyone know good sites with some awesome tats.... open for ideas. thanks

Usually, the best way to go is to go withsomething you have always liked. I don't think any suggetion here would help me make my mind. Im looking at celtic and tribal designs, but I have a few symbols that mean a lot to me. I had a tatoo artist make some designs and now I hold em up to the back of my shoulder everyday to see if I get tired of it. So far Im feeling pretty good about a tribal arrowhead that stands for strength, leadership, family, and spiritual. My best advise is be origenal and talk with a GOOD tatoo artist and see what the two of you can come up with. In the long run you will still like it and it will be personal.

Some advice you may want to take into account, if you're asking on a message board what permanent marking you want on your body for a good portion of your life if not the remainder of it, don't get it. As for me, I've always loved chinese characters such as the symbols for friendship and what not so if I got a tatoo it would be a symbol similar to that with a meaning that was really important to me personally.

I was referring to the characters in the language which represent different words in English. My example was friendship because my friends mean a great deal to me, again if you had friends you might understand. To me, a tatoo like that is just like a gang tatoo. You have to let everyone know how hardcore you are so you get a huge tatoo and show it off whenever possible. It's just not my style, but whatever floats your boat.

Don't get a barcode tat lol. A guy I work with got one on his back at the top of his left shoulderblade. The tatoo artist used a UPC that he had "laying around." Come to find out it was the UPC of a box of Tampax Tampons!
He eventially got another tat to cover it up, but we still won't let him live it down lol.

ok. so liek celtic bands n stuff r totally cool cause they've got all deep meanings and shit, so like around your bicep, you can get the celtic band for strength, so you can show off your guns!!
or also a dragon on your calf. or maybe some japanese letter things that mean all sorts of deep stuff that has a lot of meaning to you like "Wisdom" or "hope and honor" or "I am hard like the cactus"
also dude, you should get an iron cross on your shoulder or your back, with some words inside it, so that people will know how hard core you are.
that's all i can think of right now... but i know some dudes that will tell me some other stuff you should get !!!

Here is a link to the tatoo art of one of my husband's friends, David Bollt. He is a famous tatoo artist (at least in the tatoo community). 90% of the shops in my area buy the rights to use his art. This might give you some ideas.

I have seen you guys walking the streets on occasion. Strange attire, strangely designed beards, expensive haircuts that are designed to look like they haven't had a haircut. And some unintelligible foreign shit branded onto a random body part. They do their best in the summer to let people see the of so meaningful tattoos.
Yeah, I want IN. If I just think up some "meaning that was really important to me personally" and get some letters inked onto my arm will I be cool then? I could explain what the letters mean, show people, talk about them, comment on how cool they look. I would always have an excuse to explain to bored people what I find "important to me personally" when they see the "characters" permanently affixed to my body.

Did you guys hear about that Asian tatoo artist who was p****d off about the americans putting asian letters on their body and when a guy asked for him to put "power" in chinese lettering on his back, he actually tatoo'd the symbol for "I have a small penis". The guy went jogging shirtless and all the asian chicks were laughing at him.
My question is, unless you are asian, how the hell do you know what it says? For all you know, you could get "I like to f**k little boys" and think it is "friendship" or some shit ....

My sister recently got a Chinese symbol tatooed on her back. Then a couple days later I was standing in line at Subway and there were 3 teenage girls in line in front of me. All three of them were wearing low-rider pants that end right at the top of their ass-cracks, and all three of them had something tatooed on the small of their backs right above the waist-line on their jeans.
It was then that I realized that tatoos are no longer a symbol of rebellion. These days they are a symbol of conformity. Now when I see a girl with her back showing, I'm almost suprised if there's no flower or chinese/celtic symbol on it. All you punks, metal fans, bikers, and rock stars might as well get those suckers burned off, because tatoos are beyond mainstream, and now every wanna-be Britney Spears clone has to have one.
