well first off some background for you guys, this is the new news story that is out 29 min ago as of now, i was out at dinner so i found out about it a few hours ago.

well in essence NO cars in america had seatbelts with shoulder straps till 1999 while in europe they had them in 97 or 98. Ford is stupid and didn't release documents to the lawfirm and my brother steve so the court basically tied a rope around their hands and they weren't able to defend ford properly. the jury awarded 19 mil in punitive damages to FORD who had nothing to do with the accident, this is 7 mil more then the stupid trucking company who didn't rig their truck up right and caused this whole mess. while the boy is now disabled and it is a very tragic event they sit there and blame ford for beign negligent while they as the consumer could have bought a different car or sat the kid in a car seat till he was the appropriate height/weight req. This is why jury trials suck the people are just unable to render a proper descision based on the facts. =/

Do you mean backseats had no shoulder belts?

sorry for the bump of the uninteresting topic but only the middle back seats didn't ahve the shoulder part of the seat belts. (until 1999)

something tells me fords lawyers know very well what they are doing . the documents may have opened them to meny other lawsuits and saved them much more than the 24 million

so what was wrong with the seatbelt?
shouldnt a 5 year old be in a car seat? or is that too old? i know my sister's 4 year old son still uses them.
they are pretty f*****g greedy, they already have a legit 12 million from the trucking company that caused the accident, now they want MORE?!
cant wait till the day someone sues their parent for giving birth to them.

no, i know the ford lawyers lol, one of them is my brother. ford just didn't turn over the evidence and then they couldn't use it in the case. but anyways yea the kid should have been in a car seat.
