Wait, you don't have a drivers liscence? You're what... 18-19? You failed the test or are just too lazy to try?

In NC you can't have your liscence without insurance and you can't have insurance without a car.
I can't pay insurance without a job!

That's without collision to.

What about all the stuff you spent christmas/gift cash on? How about going out to rake some leaves, mow some lawns, clean some houses? Come on man, it's not that hard to score 200 dollars.

Paden,
Taken from N.C. Department of Transportation website:
| Quote: |
If you are getting a license, learner’s permit or an ID card for the first time in North Carolina, you will need to provide proof of your identity and your date of birth. You will also need to provide proof of your residence address and proof of either a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). You will need to show proof of automobile liability insurance if you will be driving a personal vehicle or something other than a fleet vehicle (rental car, company car).
|
In summary, as long as you are in a vehicle, and can show proof of insurance for it (Mom or Dad's car), then you will be eligible for licensing. Most minors are not able to afford insurance, much less a car at that age. So go to the DMV with either one of your parents (make sure you studied first), pass the written, pass the driven, and recieve your DL! Become a man! Don't let them haters get you down!
Edit: adding link to NCDOT for you for valid forms of ID to take

Paden, there should be lots of seasonal laborer jobs open this time of the year. Don't work at a gas station, you will never leave.

Last post heh.
Rennol is 100% right. Get a job roofing, or doing some carpentry work. Going into college, if you do a good job with a construction company, they will often hire you over summers, and usually with considerable wage increases. (Each job you work makes you more skilled. Skilled labor is much better than unskilled.. work faster, better. Its basic Business). Labor related jobs will pay around 7.50 - 10 an hour starting, and you will often get overtime. When I used to do that stuff, I'd pull a 60 hour work week, and still have plenty of time for my friends, drinking, that stuff.
Gas station = 5.15 an hour probably. No overtime. Its boring, you get fat. Bad way to go IMO. Construction is a b***h, but its .. constructive to your body. Get some muscles.
You'll be happy you did if you do man. And jobs are fek EASY to get in that field. Shit I still do some occasional carpentry, electrical work when the networking field slows down (Thanksgiving-New Years generally).

g'luck
