I installed sirius radio in my truck this past weekend, so I thought I'd give a quick report.
first the spcecs:
kenwood sirius ready mp3 player (forgot model number)
boston accoustic pro series 6-1/2" seperates up front
clarion 4x6 in the back
1 boston accoustic pro series 10" sub
soundstream mc300 amp running the 4 speakers
RF puch 200 briged running the sub.
Sound quality is on par with mp3's. Much better than radio, but not quite cd quality (say a 128b mp3).
there are around 100 music chanels, 20 local news/weather (not for my city tho), 20 talk radio news type things. and a shitload of sports.
the bottom line: It is to radio what cable was to tv. Of the 100 music stations, 80-90 of them are pretty worthless to any one person, but switching between the few I like keeps me pretty happy.
the first 20 stations or so are pretty much fm radio minus the commercials. Same crap, same censorship. As you get past the "hits" and into specialty stations, they stop censoring.
all in all, im pretty happy. I mean, I never once heard a techno remix of a tori amos song on fm and I've already heard on on sirius.

We got my Dad an XM radio for Christmas last year and it is very cool. Listening to censored music is so annoying, and out in the sticks where he lives, you won't get anything but country and 80s music on the radio. If I spent more time in my car I would definitely have it, but the $10 a month isn't worth it for the half hour a week I spend in my car.

I now have 45min- 1 hour commute in rush hour traffic
I do think that everyone will end up having this. Its well worth $10 a month not to hear the same 10 songs played over and over. im buying some xm and sirius stock.

/comfort
ToremyAnus drives me up a wall unless she IS remixed to where you can't heart her whine.
I wish I could get XM/Sirus here in Anchorage, but the signal doesn't reach here because of earth curvature reasons.. but get this ... WalMart still sells the radios... and recently they had a 'used' table full fo them... seems that people keep buying them and returning them once they figure out they can't use them in Anchorage, but folks KEEP buying them!
Yeah Sirius kicks alotta a*s.
I like that I can log onto their website and listen to all of the music channels via web. They don't allow the talk stations yet, but just having the music channels makes me happy in my pants since I can't get shit for FM radio in the f*****g bunker of a building I work in.

You think XM, the *MUCH* larger company, will go Bankrupt just because Howard (Whom Serius is paying 500 Million) is going on the air? You're delusional.
This is kind of Serius's "big wish" to draw some attention to them. XM owns 3/4th's of the Satalite Radio users. yes, over 5 million subscribers. Way more than Serius' horrid count.
