Defiantly after nerfing AR/prep
mutilate has to be one of the best specs, its burst damage is great and good combo point generation

I just rerolled horde and lvled a rogue to 70, my gear is crap but i'm farming honor for the glad weps. I know that raiding rogues are usually sword spec'ed. but I'm wondering how big of a drop off is being fists specced. I figured I could probably pick up the big bad wolf's paw in a kara pug, and that would serve my until i farm the honor/tokens for the glad wep ( either fists or swords) I really enjoy that extra 5% crit

If you have access to t6 PvE gear then 19/0/42 is the way to go for pvp. With veng I'd go deep combat honestly.

Been playing rogues for a long time now. The standards are 2v2, 3v3 = Shadowstep/assassination (it can be used for 5v5 as well but not as effective). 5v5 = Mutilate/combat, you need all the of the poison talents to most effective in 5s, and you can't get them without deep assassination. PVE Combat/Assassination with swords being tops.

...it all depends on your playstyle imho... in 2's, very few teams can beat a well played disc prist / shs rogue... the rogue is very hard to kite because of unstealthed in combat shs', and as far as point generation goes? a 35 energy hemo vs, 40 imp sinistrike is better... if you look at overall energy regeneration of 20 energy / 2 seconds... from full energy to 5 ticks after (10 seconds) you can hit 8 hemos while only being able to hit 7 sini strikes... it may not seem like a lot, but they have the same combo point generation but if your crit is high enough, mine is 30% unbuffed in pvp gear, that extra hit (assuming it crits) is an extra 1500 damage you would have missed out on if you were combat spec... so imo... shs is the best out there right now, but once you hit 5's, your looking at rage/mana/energy dump teams where mutilate becomes OP when paired w/ full rage warriors, and POM pyro mages.

mutilate is decent, but ive heard it becomes less and less viable the higher you go in brackets
Combat is great for sustained damage. damage damage and more damage but doesn't offer much else. Combat swords is the shit for PvE, hands down.
ShS is pretty much the best pvp rogue spec right now, it offers a lot of utility, survivability and damage
If you have a good team that'll keep you alive, and you can remain mobile without all the goodies from shs tree, combat can be amazing for arena just for its damage potential. However problems can arise from a target who is an experienced kiter.
the only major draw-back from mutilate is that you have to have daggers, and daggers are poo-poo atm.

For PVP subtelety is the best spec
1. shadowstep! even available now without being stealthed
2. master stealth , less detection
3. preparation, very usefull!
4. dirty tricks
and so on
Combat spec is more dps based , slower burst though , good for pve like raids
Assasination, hmm , not my style, so cant tell much about it

What do you guys think about Ambush specced shadowstep ?
Maxing burst damage with ~45% ambush crit, 30% backstam ..

Well I just switched to mutilate and I got to say I am never switching back. Even with crap gear my dmg still owns in BG (top 4 or 5 usually) and for arena if you have a healer your unstoppable. I will admit I miss prep and premed but mutilate is way better

well 90% of all rogues are shadowstep nowadays but mutilate is a good spec and AR/Hemo/prep builds with mace spec are viable for arenas

I've never actually tried PvP maces for uber stunlock, I've just been cheap shotting and kidney shotting at 5 combo points.

like others are saying, combat swords pve, shs for pvp
the sword procs for pve are great, and the utility and dps ShS provides is nice for any bracket
