I know there's some Texas people here. This has been puzzling me. The CDC has been warning lately about how this is going to be such a bad flu season (don't they say that every year?), and one of the reasons is the early start to the flu season in Texas. I'm thinking to myself, "how the hell do you get the flu in Texas?". Isn't it like a hundred degrees there every day? I thought flu was only for Northerners slogging around in the snow and slush and freezing rain and stuff. Do Texans really get the flu? Maybe from having the A/C on too high or something?

its Hot one day and its cold the next day... I Live near Houston and we just got 10" of rain in one day.. in fact i near Realpoor Sever.

We catch it cause of the sudden changes in weather, right now in austin its like 50 degrees and saturday through monday was like 105. Saturday was wet and hot and this morning was cold and wet and sticky. I caught a head cold from the weather and lack of sleep.

EVERYONE at school and work is sick.. Sooo many more people than I remember in the 6 years I've lived down here. For once, I think they arent hyperbolizing when they say its worse than expected. It seems to be some 10 or so day caughing flew is all.

I get my flu shot every year and I swear it helps with the flu season...haven't gotten it in three years now...(knocks on wood). But before that I use to get it once to twice a year. =/

It lightly snowed here in dallas early last week. Around the start of the new year it ices. Right now it is around low 50's-low 60's, but will get much much cooler very quickly.

I hate austin when its like this...Im sick and have a congested caugh and it sucks. Good thing I'm going to get my girlfriend sick just make me feel better about being sick.

it's an old myth that cold will make you get sick. Going out in cold wet weather has absolutely no effect on you getting sick. I've gotten sick the middle of summer down here. You start sniffling as a reaction to the cold, but that doesn't mean you get sick.

If it's a myth that going out in the cold makes you sick, then why is winter the flu season? I've never, ever heard of anyone getting flu in the summer.

according to my sources, The new flu virus's originate in China every year. They use they're own feces to fertilize rice crops. The diseases and virus's that are spawned there take time to work their way around the globe.

You get sick in the cold because it lowers your immune defence system and viruses and germs can infiltrate your systems that are preoccupied with maintaining other body fuctions.
It makes it easy for the bad guys to slip in when the guards are busy.
