My girlfriend and I want to exchange songs but everytime we plug eachothers ipod into others PC's, it deleted all of our current songs in order to put on the new PC's library.
WTF

b******t copy protection system to keep people from sharing music with each other.
2 ways to beat it:
1) use the iPod as a hard drive, then move the shit over to her computer. i.e., move files over using windows explorer, not via iTunes, etc.
2) Use an iPod on a Mac, since I think they have a crack for this problem on those systems?

No, it's just how the software acts. Everytime you plug in a new iPod into a computer it was not registered under it attempts to format it since it's a new iPod. You'll have the same problem on a Mac. And you can't plug in a PC iPod to a Mac anyways the format's unreadable.
The hard drive solution, however, will work, but not across platforms.

I don't own one, but have helped people with them before. I think if you set iTunes to "manually manage" songs it works with multiple iPods?
