so i got mine today from cingular.. was told they have great reception here. But i get no recption inside my house and only two bars outside the front door or at the kitchen window.

I have seen my sister buy herself one of those uh reception enhancer antenna stickers.. do they really work? cuz i would hate to have a cell phone i cant use lol

Get rid of it immediately, usually a contract has a 2 day cancellation or return policy.

Next time you buy a cell, ask the place for a loaner you can use to "try out" at your house and places you frequent.

I was once stuck with a phone that didn't work in my house for 3 months (thx moving and stupid contract) it just isn't worth it, no matter what kind of cool deal they offered you.

Take it back before you are stuck with the contract. Most places will take it back in the first two weeks.

The stupid little sticker isn't gonna do anything for you. If they did anything the cell phone companies would include them, or at least sell them as accessories. It's an electronic placebo.

Depending on the way your house was constructed, it could very well just be your house and not the phone / service itself.

If any metal foil / wire mesh was used to help insulate the house, it could very well have formed a Faraday cage and will block any signal from entering the house regardless of the service / phone you buy. But that's a long shot, and only something to consider if all the phones / services you try don't work.

OK, the real answer is: change your plan to a multi-band plan, exchange your phone for a multi-band phone. This way if you are out of GSM area, it will switch to TDMA. Problem solved.

Oh, and those signal boosters dont work.

If you want advice from a wireless engineer, do the above.
