i live in california.. where they declared kerry the winner at 8:00 with 0% precincts reporting. obviously it wasnt even close ..

my question is that since kerry will win cali 55% vs 45% or something similar, wouldnt it be better for democrats to vote republican so the gap decreases? battlegrounds states get more attention / focus from both sides and since california isnt we are neglected

as the biggest state in the union. if calif was a battleground state both sides would pour MILLIONS in to cali . BUSH or any incumbent president would create jobs and give $$aid etc into cali so that "his" party will win this key state. any one running against him would also have to promise the world and backit up to get re elected

winning a key state by a landslide doesnt do cali democrats any good.. it just helps democrats and even republicans in florida ohio etc..
so all u cali democrats vote republican and help california =(

only good thing about not being in a battleground state is .. no freaking presidential commericals... i saw ZERO

People dont care about their state when it comes to presidential elections, they want the person with the (D) or the (R) next to their name of their party to win. If they made california into a contested state it might mean the wrong () would be next to presidents name because the focus would be in the wrong states.

thats true.. but for a candiate to win that state they promise lots of stuff that help that state

for example if bush came to cali and promised increased military spending that would help the aero-industry in cali
tax cuts for movie prod companys that hire /film in the us instead of saving money abroad
