screen is the single mose useful program on irc.

it is the 1st package I install on almost any machine I have to administer.

I tried that .screen rc. All I get is the hostname in the bar at the bottom.

I'd never really looked at .screenrc options and or keymapping before, as I can get everything done via ssh and screen, although the copy and paste for a straight console (solaris anyone?) might be useful to have all the keymapping stuff defined

It's 4:45pm. You have a kernel configuration all ready to go, and you really want to get through the long, boring "make" process so that you can start tomorrow morning off with a fresh kernel, ready to be installed and tested. Hardly seems worth kicking this off now - it'll take at least 10 minutes to run, and that's if everything goes flawlessly.

I thank my lucky stars I got a civil service job. How this shit holds you guys intrest is beyond me. Stuck inside all day, staring at a screen, your head filled with all that....crap....man. Must be f*****g torture.

Yeah, but I'm not working. Just killing time between doing other shit before the thaw. All the stuff you guys have to learn and know in detial seems...like a f*****g torture:) I know some of you guys might like that shit, but I assume that fades. Then your stuck inside, in a cube, typing stuff for 8+ hrs a day, 5 days a week, not counting the commute.

Ew, gives me the shivers.

Don't discount the benies. I have full medical, dental, eyes and insurance forever. Forever free. I have never paid for any medical, dental, eyes or insurance, ever. Short of a few co payments, its been less than 1k in 20 years. And I have had many stitches, ex rays(over 30), broken bones, new glasses and exams ever 6 months, dental work and other assorted crap. Add all that up and it makes for a large nut. I also have prescription covered, 5 bucks a bottle, no matter the actual cost. Thats not bad and it costs me nothing for that coverage too.
