I wonder if it's part of a medical hoax. Do post-ops legally change their name and announce the previous male as "dead"? Seems like the kind of melodrama that would fit in.

She is indeed dead.
I was kinda-friends with Lauren and lived a couple miles from her.
The Col. Springs Gazette carried her obituary, and I know from when my brother-in-law died 2 years ago, that they do confirm the death with the mortuary/funeral home.
Woodmen Valley Chapel (huge church here in town) had the memorial service I believe.
Since that day, I have never seen her MSN or AIM online at all.
