this is really p****n me off lately and im nic fitting atm and need to rant so ignore me but grrrr god freakin damb hipocritical sob!!!
my hubby has quit smoking several months ago now and wants me to quit, well it may be easy for him to just decide to quit and one day up and do it good im glad for him and im happy he has cause he has ashma and smoking made it a problem. (contantly using the stupid puffers)
so anyway he quit and would like me to as well, but well hell ive tried the patch, nicoret (however that crap gum is spelt), that stupid computer beeping pos that helps you cut down to quit *it did help me cut down* i even asked the doctor about those stupid pills they have now for helping to quit smoking!! i cant take them though they conflit with my thyroid meds.
sooo here i sit having a nic fit for the second time this month! my hubby buys the smokes (he works i dont he has money i dont get the picture?) so i tell him a day in advance i need smokes he has been *forgetting* to get them alot over the past couple months
it got to the point i started telling him a couple days in advance that i needed smokes so i would have them in time! now i dont smoke alot four to six smokes a day thats it.
i still cant freaking quit!! i HAD quit and like two weeks after i got out of the hospital from having my son he was out on the balcony smoking and i could smell it and it was just after dinner and i had been craving and misserable and emotional and well hell i got weak! i went out there and asked him for a few drags, taadaaa smoking again
so anyway hes been *forgetting* to get me smokes to the point where im now sitting here nic fitting feeling extreemly bitchy and im about to go drag his sorry butt outta bed to go buy me a freaking pack already!!
if you quit smoking good for you but dont freaking try to force it on others to quit too grrr fek grrr gimmie a smoke!
/pops another piece of gum in her mouth
*edits and apparently i cant keep a consistant thought atm*

hehehe
I just went out and had a smoke.
heres a tip have him pick up some roll your own tobacco, its alot cheaper and you can horde it, its last a long time if you roll your smokes small. Since you dont smoke much, you can store it away and it should last you a good long while.

Smoke and die.
I've been to three funerals this year so far, all of 'em 60ish year-old men who smoked for 40 years. All of 'em told to quit a few years ago, and none of 'em listened. So the cancer ate them away.
What a fantastic habit.

Actually thing is this, you can live to a 100 if you like, live till you cant remember what fun life really was, till you cant remember if your life sucked or it was good, live until someone has to wipe your ass and you live in a f*****g old rest home. Me, I consider that unnatural and I think I will choose a slightly earlier death.

I was thinking 'smoker' and 'smoke and die' and that's what I got
People can do whatever they want, I for one won't even date a smoker though. It never hooked me and I can't stand the smell.
It's sad, attending a funeral where the deceased has young grandchildren, ones that won't even remember them. I know I've had alot of good memories of my grandparents... thank god they've taken good care of themselves. My grandfather smoked for a very long time, got cancer, and quit immediately. It's like he's never had cancer now, but at the time he was given a year, maybe two. We're very lucky.
It just isn't worth it, smoking isn't that great. Honestly, some smokers feel like you're ripping them in half and destroying their lives if you forced them to quit... and that's just sad.

Smoking is great!
It makes you stink, turns your teeth brown, stinks up your car and house, costs a lot of money, makes your lungs so weak you can't run more than 100 feet and if your lucky, kills you. Of course this is balanced out by the benefits you get from it, like uh, um, nevermind.
Seriously, if you care about your husband you would want to quit because of his athsma. If you care about your health, money, and appearance you should want to quit for yourself.
Hell I was out on the bike path yesterday and another guy on a bike passed me and you could smell cigarettes when he was 10 feet away and we were both going 15 mph in opposite directions. Do smokers realize they have this cloud of stink around them?
Stop smoking. It's indefensible. You are ruining your appearance and poisioning yourself and your loved ones to line the pockets of tobacco companies. Stop smoking...do what it takes....your husband is doing you a favor.

Main Entry: will·pow·er
Pronunciation: 'wil-"pau(-&)r
Function: noun
Date: 1874
: energetic determination
Tough love doll, but true. You need willpower. If you have willpower, you can stop smoking, go thru the shakes, and then be done with it.
And yes, you are weak, to be controlled by it.
Think about it this way: Do you want to be around for your kids? Do you want your kids to grow up healthy? Do you want your kids to like you when they're old enough to know what you've done to them if you continue smoking?
I resent the hell out of my mom for my lungs and the s****y state I was born with all thanks to Phillip Morris.
Honesty is my only excuse.
A suggestion: If you're a bit unhealthy, overweight, or need something to help you along as you dry out, every time you get the urge to smoke, go work out. Do something to exercise your mind and forget about what you crave.

The one thing you should think about if you do or are gonna consider smoking. What good does it do for me? I can't think of a single thing. It's bad enough it does all that brutul stated and second hand smoke is worse than actually smoking so it's still bad for the people around you.
If your really serious about smoking, get on something like the patch, and take everything out of your house that reminds you of smoking, like ash trays etc.... Try to avoid people who smoke for awhile and do things to keep your mind off smoking, like having run-ins with CoS people in Everquest.

Please stop smoking. I started smoking when I was 19. Went up to 1.5-2 packs a day for a period of several months, I also smoked a lot of pot, hehe. Anyways, when I turned 21 I just decided that it was time to quit, and just made it a unconscious habit to not smoke, even if I had them available.
It was fairly easy for me, but I have always not had a problem doing what I *want* to do, I wanted to quit smoking badly. You should as well, mainly for the reasons Brutul and others have listed. It is a horrible habit.
The best part is though, that you will save tons of money! But I'm sure your husband already knows this. Start talking to him on how you're going to spend the money you save, or actually save it, or something. =P.

I was going to say this is a smoker's point of view and such.
Put it this way you aren't a moron and I am sure you know it does deteriate the longevity of life. This is fact. Regardless of if the people you know died of cancer from smoking or not. Smoking kills. Bottom line.
The old well when you are going to die you are going to die attitude is a cop out.

i hate the smell myself i have a smoke after breakfast before i shower then have half of one after lunch half of one after dinner and half of one or one before bed, but if im up really late ill have half of one to one in between dinner and bed. IE if i stay up till 2 or 3 am lol.
i smoke and drink alot of coffee and my teeth arent brown (or even yellow), not brushing and seeing a dentist will do that though! i go to the dentist twice a year no brown teeth thnx
i dont smoke in the house! i have children and dont allow anyone to ever smoke in my house *including thier father* he smoked in his car and i hated it and i wouldnt let him smoke in the car with the kids in it, i dont drive or have a car to stink up
i can run and keep up with a two year old and a (soon to be) 9 year old just fine its called daily exercise, cardio workouts, and stretches *yoga owns*
i dont mind him wishing i would quit or trying to help me do so but trying to force it on me is mean! i will quit some day or another and i will do it on my terms and conditions in my own way not because he wants me to so withholds buying them for me!
you dont want to smoke fine thats you choice dont smoke but dont freaking take my pack of smokes and toss em out and refuse to buy me more either! (he hasnt gone that far but man its agrivating me the way hes been lately)
and him not buying me them just makes me crav it more and drives me batty to the point of when i do finally get them i smoke twice as much! so he is NOT helping at all!

Smoking is disgusting. It makes you, your clothes, your breath, and everything around you stink. It's a filthy habit.
Smoking causes all kinds of health problems and poses a risk to the people around you. Your lungs become black with tar and your body suffers from all the chemicals you're introducing into it.
The cigarette companies have been upping the nicotene(sp?) in cigarettes for years to tighten their grip on you. You belong to them when you cannot quit.
My father smoked for about 10 years before i was born. He decided to quit when i was born because he felt it would be a great way to make a new start. Cold turkey was how he did it, no patches or gimmicks, no stepping down usage, none of that stuff. Six months after he quit, he went to a bar with a couple of his smoking friends. He had quite a few drinks that night and someone gave him a smoke. He lit it up without thinking and hit it like twice. He then looked down at his drink and his friend had ashed in the glass accidentally. He stopped, dropped the cigarette and basically never touched it again because at that point he realized what a disgusting, bad habit it was. He was angry with himself for having that half cigarette and he never again smoked a cigarette to this day.
You have to make yourself DISGUSTED by cigarettes. Just like the way drinking too much of one type of alcohol, getting sick as hell on it, and not being able to drink it makes you disgusted to the point of twisting your stomach at the smell of it. If you focus on how truly horrible a thing cigarettes are, you can use that psycology as a way to stop doing it, or at least as assistance for avoiding a relapse. When i was young (8 years or so) my father talked to me about smoking at a restaurant one day. We sat in the smoking section and he pointed out people smoking (not in an obvious way, just to me). He told me he used to smoke, and he told me what a horrible thing it was. He described all that bad parts, the coughing, the expenses, what it could do to you long term, and how bad it stinks. He asked me to promise him, that i wouldn't ever even try a cigarette, and that he'd be extremely proud of me if i could avoid it my whole life. Of course I knew he'd be proud of me either way, but i felt like i owed him at least that promise, he was fair to me and he rarely steered me wrong. To this day i've never smoked a cigarette, not even one puff, and it's not because i didnt want to try, it's because i feel i'd let my father down on probably the one thing he seriously came out and asked me to do for him. It's sort of a challenge for me, one that i'm winning and one i'd not give up for anything because i place honor in having kept that promise throughout my 24 years.
Lots of people smoke, it's not an easy thing to avoid. My girlfriend used to smoke when i first met her. I desperately wanted her to quit but she told me she would have to do it on her own and that she wanted me to leave her alone about it. I had one major talk with her before that, basically telling her how much i disliked cigarettes and smoking. She got defensive and wouldn't hear me out, but i knew she understood my point. After she asked me to let her do it on her own, i didnt bring it up again. It took her about 6 months but she did quit, and she did it on her own and i didnt have to bother her about it. She did it for herself that way, and not because i wanted her to do it. I'm thinking that's how things need to be for someone to quit, they have to want it and can't be pressured. Pressure just makes the person more stressed out, and that just pushes you closer to your vice.
Best of luck to you sornlia.

I don't give a rats ass what you personally think of me but you did open this topic up for people too coment on.
You never mentioned you were a housewife - hence the go out and get a job too make money to take care of the filthy habit. Good thing you don't smoke in the house at least. You do get a point for that one.
Not a matter of it if is worded better for me or not. I don't smoke, as long as you actually know it is killing you that is all that matters, and you can tell little Johnny and little Sue there (the kids - however many you may have) when they get older or you're husband if you are not around anymore just why mommy smokes and what it is doing too her body.
Truth hurts doesn't it. Reality.
And hey I am only b******g about you smoking in any hope that you quit for you're own good.
If you like I can say f**k what is the address I will send out some cartons for you and smoke up and die
