I just got the 77.72 drivers and now when I watch movies in WMP it looks like the brightnees is turned all the way up, but it isn't. I did the troubleshooter and turning down the hardware acceleration to any of the first 3 notches on the slider will fix the movie but 3d games won't work. Anyone know of a fix to make it all work right?
Every other driver from nVidia seems f****d in someway. Last time it was the screen flickering every time I right clicked any kind of movie file but I was able to fix that.

Well, the power of Google reigns supreme once again. Tools-Options-Performance-Advanced-uncheck Use Overlays
solves the problem.

I had this exact same problem with new drivers for my card. Couldn't figure out how to fix it.

I should get new nvidia drivers. When I'm playing movies, fairly frequently I get this bizarre effect where the sound continues, but the screen goes solid green and I hear the fan on the graphics card suddenly goes into turbo mode of something, and the computer becomes almost totally unresponsive until I can kill it (although the temp monitor on the card doesn't seem to show that it's particularly hot).
I'm afraid to though because the last time I used a new driver WoW stopped working and I had to go back to this old buggy one.

Heh. Actually, a computer from there would probably beat mine at this point. It's on its third or fourth revision I think; I just keep updating components individually as necessary, but it's been awhile since I've bothered to upgrade and the CPU/memory really needs a boost. I'm thinking that maybe it happens when the CPU or memory bandwidth can't keep up with the graphics card. Although a decent driver ought to deal with that.
