i use itunes now ...

but i have used musicmatch in the past ..

and i think even windows media player can do it (it defaults to windows media files but i think you might be able to get it to do mp3)

i like itunes a lot though because it gets the album and song info for me

i hate WMP (so i won't use it just because i don't like it)
and i really don't like MusicMatch (i think it's too bulky and s****y).

i don't have anything against iTunes specifically aside from the fact that i only need an MP3 ripper, not really a player/ripper.

I use FreeRIP.

Looks up tags on cddb, and it's f*****g free. What else do you need from an mp3 ripper?

I use EAC with lame to encode, makes great sounding mp3's. Takes a bit to set up, but it's worth it when it's done.. both free
