ok so i opened my case the other day to check out what kinda ram I had and I was lookin around in it and i noticed that like 6 of the capacitors on the MB (big ones next to the processor) were blown with acid leaking out of the tops, wonderin what that means / what i should do, still under warranty so i am thinking sending it back would be the best idea.

Thanks Japan.
Sounds like you have a motherboard that Gateway offers, we have known issues like this.
Causes system to run sluggish and lock up constantly, we replace the motherboard for this.

Japan?

Most likely you mean Taiwan, Singapore, China, or Malaysia

Were they pics of motherboards made in japan?

The reason i tossed out my comment was labor costs in japan make it unlikely the board was actually assembled there. Nearly all motherboards are assembled in the crappier asian countries where people work for shit wages, and the quality control is ASStacular. If it actually was made in japan, i'd be willing to bet it cost more and it's one of the better boards available (manufacturing wise not design wise).

Goraz, you don't work for SOE tech support do you? I just ask because this is the kind of asinine advice they give too.

He has a bad motherboard that is still under warranty. The obvious and best solution is to *gasp* replace it under warranty.

Yes, your solution will fix the problem. But then buying a new car would fix my flat tire too.

Goraz, you turd.

OPERATING SYSTEMS AFFECTED: Not OS Dependent

CAUSE: The capacitors on the motherboard are failing.

RESOLUTION: Replace the motherboard like for like if the motherboard has leaking or bulging capacitors and is within the warranty.

What i do if i get this call.
