It allows me to smooth out the new relases when my Putty and bootdisk.com mirrors get new hits. (as well as consolevision.com)

that's exactly right. he didnt even come close to making the cut for american idol, but he's become famous instead.
i posted this because i've been thinking about him a bunch lately... mainly because i bought a t-shirt with a quote form him on it. it says "I have no professional training. I already gave my best. I have no regrets at all."
here is the rant i wrote to a friend about it... i find his fame to be fascinating.

There is something about this kid that people gravitate towards. Part of his fame is due to his obvious lack of rhythmic (and most likely, social) skills. But i think there is another reason that people like him. He is not perfect. He is not pretty. He doesn't have a gorgeous voice. He is mediocre. But he doesnt care. He gave his best. He is confident, proud, and fearless. And that, in itself, is attractive.
I watched a clip of Ellen Degenere's talk show (linked from williamhung.net) where she gave this touchy feely sorta speech about celebrating that attitude of giving your best and having no regrets. It really makes me think that there is much more to his fame than just being really unspectacular. there is something in him that we identify with, and envy, in some ways. None of us are beautiful, talented, american idols... But how many of us actually try, without fear of criticism and ridicule.
this all sounds a bit too hokey. maybe it's because it's 730am and i'm still awake.
All I know is that i love my new t-shirt. and that william hung will forever be one of my many many heros.
hehe.
