the game has been getting slower and slower progressively it seems the more i play .. fighting in groups is just so lagged
ive been playing in stormhold and the video lag is just terrible .. eventually the game may crash and give an error .. and overall now it seems like EQ is slower than it was a few days ago even
i dunno, anyone else noticing this? or able to post more information on it?

Yea, I get like that a lot in many places, but seems fine out in Antonica for me though. Hopefully they'll get that crap fixed soon so gameplay can be much smoother. I also got a siimular computer to what you have, just a Radeon 9700 pro 128mb instead of the geforce you have.

I do, i get down to like 1fps sometimes in freeport if i've been on more than a couple hours.
I dont think it unloads certain models or some shit, which would be more of an intended memory leak that makes zone time faster, but in the end makes it slower over time.

From the performance thread

I've seen it take up to 1.8gb of my physical ram. This was rather annoying and I was supprised my machine didn't start crashing. Although I was only getting about 12fps.
This usually happens i've noticed when I do once of two things.
1) Play with the graphic settings to dial in performance vs eye candy (which on my machine I can afford a lot of)
2) Alt tab between full sceen and Window modes to look up quests or what not.
This leads me to belive that the problem comes when EQ2 has to load or unload textures at different resolutions. This problem would become more so with people who have lesser machines. (1280x1024 res, 800 render distance, shadows off (i don't like them), most lighting on, most settings towards top end, 10 detailed models)
That being said. I CAN run EQ2 on my laptop just fine, abit I only have 3 detailed models on my screen at a time, I can still run it. (1024x786 res, 400 render distance, shadows off, lighting minimal, most settings lower, 3 detailed models)
For reference.
Main PC:
p4 3.06ghz /HT 800mhz FSB, 2gb DDR400, ATI 9800 Pro 128mb, WD Raptor 10k RPM 36.6gig HD, SATA 150.
Laptop:
IBM T42p ::: p4 1.8ghz 2mb cache, 512 DDR 400, ATI Fire GL T2 128mb, 60gig 7200rpm.

its actually pretty fun at low lvls, im 20 now and its quite enjoyable .. seems more stuff to do, more going on, and less gay than EQ
it definitely feels more like im in control of my character, and im surrounded by a world than EQ did .. dunno how to explain it
but i dont know how itll be at high lvls, probably more like EQ, i guess ill lose interest around that point

I notice it too. I belive there is a "memory leak" so to speak. After about 2 hours or so of gameplay if I have been in heavy traffic zone, such as Freeport, I have to reboot my machine to clear up the lag. It is nowhere near as bad as AO was at realease, but it is definitely noticeable after an extended session of gameplay.

I have a p4 2.67ghz, 1 gig ram, geforce 6800gt and the lag in town can almost be unbearable at times.
I thought I should be able to play on "High Quality" with my computer, so I guess that's the price I pay.

Silver read the post on the forums about teaking EQ2. You can get a lot out of your system if you turn certian things off or reduce them. Like if you are willing to live w/o most or all shadows and turn down some lighting (which you wont even notice) you can turn up your character rez and add a few detailed models.
