I've had my done for 4 weeks now so let me give you some valid information about it ..
It hurts more then getting your eyebrow done. Not too bad but the pain is still there. It's all about concentrating on something else besides the needle going into your lip.
Don't get pierced with a 16 gage.. That is what I had but recently I pushed a 14 gage last night, because it seems like it is hard to find jewlry for your libre that is 16 gage..
Oh and kissing is almost impossible after the piercing. Your lip starts to swell up so much and you find your self talking as if you had 20 beers in you.
So, don't listen to what people say about it. It hurts but not that bad. and remember get a 14 gage not 16.

Ummm... I've had mine for about 3 years. Mine never did swell, and the same night I got mine done and the entire weekend after I was drinking and kissing.... and other stuff.
Hurts. Yeah, definately hurts. More than other piercings myself and other folks we know have had. The guy that did mine said that his was the most painful one that he's had (and he's bout had it all).
14 guage... does any reputable place still pierce in 16? I thought 16's went the way of the piercing gun...
If you want to get get good jewelry for it, make sure that you buy internal threaded and not that hot topic spencers shit. internal threading means that you won't irritate the piercing nearly as often when removing jewelry since there are threads to drag through the hole.
Labret jewelry also gets to smellin' like some serious ass funk. If it does, get you a shot glass and fill it with lemon juice and soak the jewelry for a couple days. That should fix ya right up.

yes this one hurts, i've had mine for 2 months now, but nothing compared to nipples. if you soak it twice a day as you're supposed to, you shouldnt be getting any swelling, also, 16g is totally piercable and i've seen tons of jewelry in that size. However, you can still see the hole sometimes, so i would highly recommend you deal with the 14g needle.

piercings affect everyone differently.
I had my tongue pierced and could only eat slurpies and mashed potatoes for a week.
My GF had hers done and was eating whatever the next day

Mine scarred really bad when I took it out. You can see a huge indentation where the piercing was. i agree with what TrueParadox said. You can also get different types of backs for the Labret and Monroe piercings, but internal threading is key.

if it starts scarring gum tissue it's best to get a fishtail labret as it will not bother the gums as the backing on a standard stud will. they're harder to find but basically it's a labret without a back that is bent to just hook inside your mouth. you can order em online.

It sucks when you have to take off your ball then put it back on and shit (for work). I lost 2 ball already. 1 time was when I was getting dressed.. I didn't even notice until I got to work. The 2nd one was at school.. It fell when I was eating and rolled in the gutter =/ . That is when I bought a variety pack at this store called "freestyles" . Great store , the pack came with a silver and black spike. A black and silver ball , a glow in the dark spike and a retainer. All for 30 bucks ! oh and it came with the 14 gage bar.
