and we all went out and saw a concert and then we went bowling and at the bowling alley we all played DDR!
i never played before. i liked it. he loved it.
so i think for his bday i'm gonna buy him the game and a pad.
I know there was a thread about this before, and i went and looked at it, but i want more input.
what game and what pad should i buy? i think i might get a pad for myself so we can both play.
are the semi hard pads worth it? or will they break unless you get metal?

erm the problem with the softer pads isent that they break its that they slip. You can get 2 soft pads for likee 20$ total hard ones can go up to 100$ a pop. /shurg

Soft pads break hella easy, the pressure sensors in the pad f*****g suck. They're basically two sheets of tin foil with an electrode glued to each one - if you rip any of your tinfoil by stomping on it, you've lost a square to get ghey on.

A bowling alley with a DDR machine? Neato. I'd be all over that.
Get DDR Max2 and two of these pads: Level Six Ignition v2.1
They're comparable to the $100 Red Octane Ignition 2.0s, but the wiring is not quite as good, so that means significantly less sensitivity and accuracy (due to fewer sensors) in the long run. Don't bother with completely flat (thin) pads, and no, semi-hard pads are definitely not worth it (they'll break if you weigh more than 100 pounds, and most likely even if you don't).
If you're going to get a metal pad, there's only one choice, and it's a bit expensive for a friend's birthday: Cobalt Flux. No other pad even comes close. Trust me.
