Hunters are there for trueshot aura. That way when you go to kill Fennin Ro, the casters can throw things when they go oom!
No, wait, EQ flashback /shudder.
I might say that Hunters can be a dps class (group/raid-wise). Get a Kitty pet and start firing arrows and damage output should be pretty nice.

Solo and for DPS yes, single group needed, not so much.
If you are going to be one have friends on the server =).
They are a good class but don't bring a lot to a instance group other then dps.

Hunters seem to be the only class that can split unsap/sheep/seduce/hibernateable mobs though, surely that'd be useful? :/
Lay ice root/stun (whatever it is) trap
pull group of mobs over it
Feign Death
Have someone else in group tag the rooted thing as the others roam back.
you now have it single, yay.

Thats to slow in most cases, most pulls will be 3 plus in higher instances, mage will sheep one and he will tank other 2. By pulling he builds rage as he charges them, does not have to build agro on each and is much quicker.

If a mage can sheep one then you didn't need to do it anyway. I'm talking for unsheepables
