Every night I end up staying up all night trying to catch up in school from missing all my classes but end up just getting stoned and watching tv then falling asleep at around 11am and sleeping all day and missing my classes and going through the same cycle over and over and now this is basically my normal sleep schedule
any tips on getting back to a normal sleep schedule?

stay up straight through the second day, such as, if you get up at say.. 6 pm, stay up till 10 pm the next day, then sleep then, and you should wake up at around 6-8 am, you might feel some aftershock the next day, but fall asleep again at 10 pm and keep working towards it.. i've modified my sleep schedule a lot =p

Basically you just gotta stop being a weakassed willpowerless shit, and go to bed when you should, so you can get up when you should, eat when you should, and study when you should.
Your sleepschedule, is just that... a schedule. So schedule it.

I had some serious sleep problems playing eq. Due to the time difference between the UK and the US, and taking into account when most people I knew played, I changed my pattern to fit. So I ended up waking up each day at 6pm, and going to sleep after lunch the following day. I did this without a break for 2 years.
There is a theory that the absolute best way to alter a sleep pattern is to do it gradually, by staying awake an hour or two later each day, Trouble is you need 1-2 weeks of holiday time to pull it off So yes only way is to stay up till the following night and pass out exhausted. Trying to alter it by going to sleep early never works.
To help with this, book in some event for which you absolutely HAVE to start at around 8-9am, and which will take all day. Suffer through it and then fall asleep. Donate a kidney, run a marathon, get a job, something like that.

I usually slack off like this and I have not failed a class in college yet. It doesnt take much effort to pass through college slacking off hard(just show up for the tests), well at least over here at UCF. The thing is though I dont want to slack off and get bs and cs, i need to exCel so I can get into a phat law school.

Best thread ever. I should make a "milestone" chart for this guy:
* March '03: Gets stoned a lot
* Feb '04: Gets stoned a lot. Has trouble sleeping.
* Feb '05: Gets stoned a lot.
etc

I've also heard this method is best.

Yeah I agree with what was said about staying up an hour or two later each day, it is much easier then trying to wake up earlier and goto bed earlier the problem is you do need more time to pull it off.

That sounds all cool and mature and sensible but it's a bunch off bullhockey
If you CAN"T sleep..you can go to bed at whatever time you want and still lay awake for 6 horus staring at the g*****n ceiling...then fall asleep at 9am still and be screwed for another day while wasting a whole nite doing nothing
The best way would be the gradual thing, but that dontw ork if you have no free time.
The 2nd best way (and faster) is what i usually do. Spend a few days sleeping at 9am and waking at whateer time around 8pm then stay up a full day till you cant anymore (this is usually 2-3pm the next day for me), wake up around 9-10pm (set alarm). Stay up till 6 (you will be tired..trust me ) fall asleep and be sure to wake up at 11am (Again, 2-3 alarms required).
This is where cel's idea comes in, dont be a p***y but actually GET UP. You will be dead tired round 10-11pm and be back in a normal schedule. Do this during the weekend or something and viola...your normal

No it isn't bullhockey (WTF is that?), it's the bottom line. In the end, like you said, it all comes down to doing what you're supposed to do at the times you planned it. Trust me, I had the same problem, just stop being a pansy lazy ass and do what you gotta do. If you can't sleep at the times you're supposed to sleep, then yes you can do something like read or play games or watch tv, but you should still get your ass out of bed or chair or whatever and do what you're supposed to do at the time you would have gotten up even if you had been sleeping. Just decide you will, and follow through with it. Sure it's best to plan these things at a time when you don't have major tests for school or any big plans or anything involving heavy machinery ;p But that's just common sense. The bottom line is just assuming control of it by doing what you scheduled to do.
Also: not being able to sleep is something you can remedy in most cases. Do relaxation exercises, meditate, don't drink or do energizing things 1 hour before you're supposed to go to sleep, and even if you get the feeling you can't sleep, don't give up too soon. Stay in bed and try to relax, try not to get frustrated or worry, try to think about relaxing things or just try to be comfortable in your bed and not think at all, and many times you will fall asleep. If you feel like you have to get up, get up for an hour orso, then try again. Don't stay up till you are completely exhausted, because then it is even harder to stay awake at the times you're supposed to be awake. There are also things that can assist in making you sleepy, like herbal tea or things like that.
Just find out what works for you, and if nothing works: see a doctor or a shrink ;p
