Just got one done today, for anyone who has had one done before does it hurt the day after? I'm not hurting so much right now but I'm looking for what I'm going to be dealing with for the next couple of days...

You have a gaping hole in your mouth where a tooth was pulled from it's nice snug home in your gums.
Of course it's gonna hurt =p

Why do people get their wisdom teeth pulled? My bottom right one only hurt for the little while that they were breaking through the surface of my gums. My bottom left one still has to come through, though; I can feel it when I push down back there. I don't even think there's room for upper wisom teeth.

I didn't get a wisdom tooth pulled =\ I still have all 4 and they've never hurt. Although I've been told more then once by a dentist that they are causing my teeth to be not as straight as they could be. The one I had pulled was broken pretty bad... it didn't really hurt that often but it looked kinda gangsta so I figured I'd go for the 80 year old I'll gum you to death look rather then the Scrabler snaggle tooth southern look

It doesn't have to hurt bad at all.
Even wisdom teeth don't have to hurt bad.
I had two pulled by a surgeon, they hurt like a mofo the week after.
The other two were pulled by a dentist, they didn't hurt at all. The shot didn't hurt and the next day my mouth was a little sore, but no pain to speak of.
Just have to wait and see, make sure you have painkillers and soft food.
And why pull them? For me it was because I had to, there was no room for them, so they started hurting the other teeth and ulcerate (wow I had to look that word up).

Hurting other teeth and ulcerating? That'll probably be happeing to my upper teeth, there's absolutely no room. The bone ends right after the last tooth to I can't see where it'd come from.

Yeah it was the same with me.
My advice: if you start feeling it (pain or soreness) regularly, have it pulled. It hurts way more if you wait till it starts ulcerating and stuff. At least in my experience.

i had 4 or 5 pulled when I was younger, i remember being super drugged up and having a mouth full of blood afterwards but i dont remember any pain during the following days.
Edit: or taking any medication for pain afterwards
Still have my wisdom teeth as they didnt need to be pulled because of the other ones i had pulled when i was younger.

Thanks Cele, I'll remember that. I'm only 18 and these are coming in pretty slow so it'll be a while to be done with them.

Oh yeah, I don't think they started coming through till like 19/20 for me, it took a couple of years. Had them pulled at... 22/23 I think. And the last two only last year (25 yrs old)
It's best if you can wait till they come through your gums I think, then they can just be pulled by a dentist. If the gums need to be cut open you'll probably need a dental surgeon (at least I did).

i had a tooth pulled onteh bottom years ago but thats cause my mouth was too crowded adn they were over lapping it was directly in front of two other teeth.
now i have 5 along the front instead of 6 and they are still crowded /sigh
but ya give it a coupel days to adjust, do NOT smoke! do not use a straw or suck on anything, keep you fingers outta your mouth and dont touch it.
salt water gargle twice a day next couple days, taste like shit but works wonders and will help prevent dry socket and OMFG you really dont want that pain.
*btw* by a sonicare an take care of your teeth!

thanks missy appreciate the advice =) drinking through a straw isn't a problem since thats for p*****s heh. I've already smoked =\ and now that I have proper dental insurance something like the tooth I had pulled won't ever happen again heh. The root problem with this one started alooooooooong time ago =\

try to keep smoking to a minimal and warm water rinse after *not to hot will cause it to bleed more* i know this sounds weird but dont smoke normally when you absolutely must have a few drags.. puff from the side and try not to 'suck' as much.
sucking = bad (thus the no straw thing).
if the pain needs numbing an advil or two should do sufficiently.
