this scammer tried to get my account so i had some fun with him.

This is exactly the same dude in my scammer pwnage 2 vid (look at my youtube)
He does have accounts on realpoor, and all he does is PM people and not post, so we can't check who he is.
I am utilising IP check programs to get him.
What I am going to do is get a secret AIM account and see if AIM can get me direct IP's (unlike MSN which seems to go around some gateway...)
Anybody know if AIM does it directly?

Next time you do a trade, ask the person who adds you on msn/aim/whatever to contact you via realpoor PM to confirm his user name, makes it easier for us to track them down.

LOL, so I got this guy again tonight, with a different screen name but same # sequence at the end of his handle. He must talk to dozens of people a day because he forgot he talked to me a couple nights ago. Anyhow I played dumb, and had another convo with him, and pretended like I never knew him. In this convo I told him to register at realpoor.com and reply to my thread so you guys could get his IP or whatever. GO TO WORK MODS! I hate scammers.

Looks like its a chinese scammer from grammar, technique and the users posts here. It may have been a different person on the AIM since its known that they work shifts (read my article for info on gold farmers). Please make them into screenshots and repost them since we dont accept evidence that isnt in screenshot form.

I wonder if he is aware that you are not his friend... I think he said my friend in those posts at least in 8% of his messages.
I don't know, but I wonder what the success rate of scammers like this is? I mean who would give them the info without asking a few questions and such...
Also: If you just omit your name or the security question from the info you give them, then its 100% recoverable... I ended up having to do that with a hacker who changed all the info but luckily couldn't change those.
A 30 minute phone call (30 minutes on hold waiting for an operator... /boring) could save you 50 hours /played time making a new account after yours has been hacked.

I've dealt with chinese spammers here and on other sites for years, trust me, they never give up. Phishing e-mail's are the worst because they have banners from the game and people often mistake the e-mail domain thinking it is actually from the game company. I dont know how anyone can fall for a scam like this, but there must be people dumb enough to fall for it.

How in the world do you have enough patience to deal with scammers like that? And actually could you enlighten me as to what he was actually going to do? Was he going to pay and withdraw the money after he got your account or something?
