So I recently had to turn in my Sidekick.. it doesn't work at my house which destroys any business justification for having it in the first place. Oh well.. it was a cool toy while I had it.. so now Im in the market for a new phone. It has to be able to reveive automated alert text messages but other than that no restrictions.. so I go phone shopping.
why the f**k do cell phones nowadays have to have cameras on them? why do they only have funky, cool ring tones? what ever happened to just basic service phones? It p****s me off that I'm shopping for a new phone and the rep is like "well these range in price from 300-500 dollars because they come with the included camera, etc" Im like "but I don't want a camera on my phone" well sir, sorry we've discontinued all the non-camera models"
Why?? Does the majority of the population seriously send pictures from their phones so that ever up and coming new model phone has to have a f*****g camera on it?
p****s me off.. And no I don't want f*****g Britney Spears ringtones.. just a basic ring tone or better yet, a silent ringer is better.. you don't have those either?? Can I get a phone without "Cop Killa" as a ringtone?
*groan*

If you get abducted by aliens you have a better chance of getting proof AND you can wow them with the Close Encounters of the Third Kind ringtone.
Just wait until they incorporate phones that can dispense kool aid, boy howdy!
Everyone likes kool aid, right?

Nah, my wife and i recently went to verizon and got new phones. i chose to go with the fancier phone but she picked up an old school one. real basic, no fancy shit on it. it makes crystal clear calls, recieves them well and does text messaging. no fancy ring tones or cameras ( doesnt even have the option to dload them ) and it was only 70 dollars. check out Verizon and look there. give me a few and ill see if i can find her phone and give you a link to their site with it there.
EDIT : ok, this is her phone model but this one has alot of added shit that she didnt get on hers hence why hers was cheaper. look for this model though ( if you dont care how it looks )

I didn't have any problems with it except where I live which, being in the ghettos of San Francisco, is littered with power lines, phone cables and every other form of EM interference-causing elements. One runs about 2 feet from my computer room/living windows, effectively shutting out half my apartment I can use it in.
If anyone wondered why I would send them AIM messages on the pot - well.. that's the only room in the house it worked in
I like a lot of the t-mobile phones also.. it's just the damn Sidekick that has a very low EM tolerance. When I complained about it at the store one of the sales rep raises an eyebrow and asks "they didn't warn you?"

I have the normal, free verizon phone you get when you sign up and it doesn't work within like 8 blocks of my house. It works in Marin (45 miles south), but that's about it. I may have to get a new one, or at least change the message so that it tells people who call that it doesn't work.

I upgraded my phone recently from a Nokia 3390 (uber basic) to a Motorola v300, and the rep didn't talk me into it. I have the same complaints as you Nah, I mean seriously I had Motorola in the days of voice stream, the shit had an orange face and it made phone calls, nothing more nothing less. But I guess I wanted the "well I won't have to upgrade for a few years" feeling I got out of the deal atleast. The other phones while nice, would have left me wishing I had paid a little more now and gotten a phone I'd be happy with. I agree though, I don't need to have a ringtone by Chingy and a camera, although the cam has come in handy

I had this old piece of shit Sprint PCS phone for 4 years before this phone.. this piece of crap still got HOT when you used it for more than 20 minutes it was total stone age technology but the f****r worked no matter where I was, underground, in an elevator, in the mountains.. *sigh* Id gladly give the cameras up for another basic hard working phone like that

Be happy.
I cannot get any internet connectivity or picture taking stuff here in Alaska...
But I STILL get to buy the same phones, just can't use the features!

I don't know about you guys. But having a phone in your camera, especially someone who loves photography, is so much of a convenience. If only they had better pixles.
Can't wait untill my verizon service plan is over, I am switching to Tmobile for 1) This phone rocks 2) Acorrding to friends, their service is better.

Do the Product Demo and go to Camera. Its pretty f*****g slick you can take pictures, then send them to peoples emails at no cost.

Nah, try looking for a Sony Ericson model phone. I have one from Verizon, it has no features at all. Basic ring tone, no color display b******t, no camera, etc.

Keep in mind htat I havent read anyone's posts, aside from Nah's original.
When thos damn picture phones came out I didnt see ANY point in them at all. So f*****g what? you send a picture.. weee thats nice
But suprisingly, they are kind of cool to have. I have pictures on my phone that I honeslty odnt want to forget, because they were times that you just iddnt think to have a camera on you or it was something random. Rather than go into details, Im glad Ive got one of those camera phone things...
Before, I said "waste of money, blah blah blah " but now I actually like it.

Great. It's always good hearing more positive input when it comes to cell phone providers and their outrageous subscription lengths.
Anyone mind sending me a picture from their camera cell phone, then follow up with your camera model and provider? Trying to descide on what camera phone to get, and if I need to change my provider or what not.
reyhebb@astound.net
Thanks in advanced.
Edit: I know there are limited pictures that can be emailed, but just for quality sake, wanna see how good it is.
