one of my friend's relatives recently got arrested on child porn charges because he DLed some file off of kazaa. apparently the govt is putting up files for people to download and then tracing IPs through either a program or kazaa itself. just a warning to ppl if they do that kinda stuff to be careful ;p they were trying to get 15 years on him so he had to enter a plea and get 10 years probation. kinda sucks cause he's only 20. anyways it is pretty f****d up that big brother is watching things like that and we get no privacy at all, even if you can say that it doesn't hurt if you aren't doing anything bad. but i mean seriously who doesn't at least do one bad thing in their life. anyways, in conclusion the govt is overstepping their bounds here and it is seriously messed up. need more privacy ;p

Anyone who downloads child porn with the intention of downloading it (aka: not by accident because a file was mistitled or whatever) can rot in jail for the rest of his/her life for all I care. It's people like that who are ultimately responsible for the underground networks which kidnap and abuse innocent children that are used to make this filth.
Privacy is good and all, but I won't lose a second of sleep over someone who is into that stuff.

They don't just arrest someone for downloading a single random file, this person could quite possibly have a history of this you know nothing about. Its not like pedophiles walk around the mall saying "HI I LIKE TO LOOK AT LITTLE BOYS NAKED". It's natural to defend a relative, but if this person is guilty of it, I agree with Kbarr.
Perhaps add "leave in jail cell with 350lb aggressive ****-offender for 72 hours prior to burning" to their sentence.

As long as they are naming the files "CHILD PORN" then i dont mind what they are doing and i think its a great thing, but if they have an obsecure name then i've got a problem with that. I dont use Kazaa anymore and i've got a ping blocker that blocks all goverment and law enforcement related sites from pinging me at my addresss, however when i used to use kazaa for porn ( i pay for it now  ) i would download mass ammounts by just selecting everything that came up in the seach result and view it once it got to my cpu..... I did get child porn mislabled sometimes and if that had a chance of getting me sent to jail, that'd suck.

jerking off to pics of little kids is just a stepping stone to doing the real thing . Not to mention by looking at the shit and suporting people who look at it you are condoning what is happing to the kids in the pics.
This has nothing to do with privacy . IF you are actively seekling out child porn and you happen to get busted because you found it on seme fed webpage or kazza your privacy rights have not been violated in any way . This is in no way different than if i was seeking out some crack rocks and got busted buying it from the feds.
While i could be wrong i sincerely doubt the feds have these pics mislabled as adult porn . I would guess for it to hold up on court the file would clearly have to be labled something like "12 year old sucking off her 10 year old brother". Even more to the point , if they raid your house and all you have is the one picture i bet you dont even get charged. If your friend was looking at 15 years i bet he had a ton of the shit and deserves what he gets. Have to laugh at him. everytime he goes to get a job he will have to explain how he got busted for child porn .....
If any of you think this child porn is ok like Khrath does , even for his misguided reasons , you need to do some serious self reflection on what a unhealthy and demented individual you are. Seek some help before you yourself start hurting little kids , maybe your own .........

i agree that its a good point and really bad example.
if the guy was actually downloading child porn then he deserves it, but if the government is doing this with files like music videos, mp3's, etc.. then its just ridiculous.

i go to the university of arizona, and i played soccer with this kid in third grade. i had no idea he went here until I picked up the paper (first edition of the semester) and he was on the front page.
like someone said above, some people just batch download porn off kazaa and then just delete the shit they don't want, or even just leave it on there and watch the stuff they like.

personally, i think he got the book thrown at him when he shouldn't have. he should've gotten a slap on the wrist given his young age, and often the ppl that are really "into" this stuff have a lot more than the 30 or so files he had on his computer. i bet he just had a shit load of porn and of all of it they found 30 files.
10 years without the internet, not to mention that this is going to follow him for the rest of his life. he won't be able to get half the jobs he'll ever desire because he has to register as a **** offender.

There is no proven correlation, but viewing the porn supports the industry that produces it, which in turn supports the kidnapping, abuse and exploitation of children. The child(ren) are real children that are being **** abused to make the porn that he was whacking off to.
He deserves more than 10 years probation - he deserves general population in any prison in the country where the inmates can give him a taste of what it feels like to be **** exploited by those bigger and stronger.
The article also states he admitted to files on his parents computer as well - seems like pattern behavior to me. Rule of thumb: if you download porn, view it. If you even slightly suspect someone might be under age, delete the damn stuff.

It's easy to DL f****d up shit on Kazaa accedentally. I long since stopped even messing with Kazaa, but im willing to bet I downloaded several illegal files since I DL'd porn without even looking at what it was called half the time. Hope I dont go to jail =P
