im wanting to get net down at my boat dock which is ~600 ft down a cliff. There is a private road before the dock, so I cannot just run cable.
Do they make a wireless solution for something like this? I was thinking of a fixed wireless where I could put two antennas, on on my deck, one on my dock, then put a 802.11g box down at the dock, but im not coming up with anything.

Imagine a pringles can pointed at your destination. They make attenuators of that shape, which give you boosted wireless range, but smaller diameter. More spotlight and less omni-glow.

Clever/poor people have frequently made them out of pringles cans, coffee cans etc. I'd suggest you do a google search or check out www.nocat.net (They're out of your region but there are many articles on antennas and the other technical aspects of what you're trying to do. They also have a mailing list that may be of help.

ok, so you can make, or buy directional antennas for 802.11b/g and they are not expensive.
so, what do I do, buy 2 access points, ad 2 directional antenas. unscrew one of the little antenna on each access point and replace with the directional, then point the 2 da's at each other? Doesnt sound too hard.
