dadless , lol .. | Then ask whoever set up your internet connection. Your mom, your brother, your uncle, whatever. Clearly you can't figure this out yourself and odds are the only one who is going to know is whoever set up your network. I could run through all the obvious questions but the problem is that you have no idea what you are doing, as a result, you wouldn't be able to answer them adequately.

NAT
network address translation
allows several computers to use the same internet connection, via the same IP, so splitting several connections out from one

ok I'll try to help you. A firewall is a device either hardware or software that denies access to ports in the TCP/IP stack. Now that said do you have a box (typically labeled Linksys, D-Link, Cisco) between your Cable modem (or DSL modem) and your PC? If not the nyou do not have a hardware Router. now, Do you have any software listed in the lower right corner of your screen (TSR programs)? Some examples of software firewalls are, Mcafee, Panda, and alot others. You would have to open those programs and see. But to date I have yet to see one that is NOT loaded in the bottonright corner of your screen by the clock.
Now, NAT is "Network Address Translation" That is the process that allows several computers to share one IP address. Every PC must have an IP (click on start, run, type in WINIPCFG if you are running win 98, or Start, Run, CMD and type ipconfig if XP to find out your IP)address to access the internet as we know it (there are other protocols but we wont go into them). Now the REASON we use NAT is because the world is running out of IP address, so we have devised ways to share certain IP addresses. Some examples of those are Routers (all of them), ICS (internet connection sharing) Sygate, all use NAT.
Hope that helps ya bro. If you need more info PM me I will try to hook you up.
