Login and Registration Issues

Why can't I log in?

Have you registered? Seriously, you must register in order to log in. Have you been banned from the board? (A message will be displayed if you have.) If so, you should contact the webmaster or board administrator to find out why. If you have registered and are not banned and you still cannot log in then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem; if not, contact the board administrator -- they may have incorrect configuration settings for the board.

Why do I need to register at all?

You may not have to -- it is up to the administrator of the board as to whether you need to register in order to post messages. However, registration will give you access to additional features not available to guest users such as definable avatar images, private messaging, emailing to fellow users, usergroup subscription, etc. It only takes a few minutes to register so it is recommended you do so.

How to choose a username?

Please, choose your username carefully. If you want to stay anonymous, please do not put your real name or your email for a username. Use a synonym or a nickname just to be recognizable between the forum the members.

I registered my account but I still cannot log in?

Again, check that you’re entering the correct username and password. If they are correct, then one of two things may have happened: (a) you clicked the I am under 13 years old link while registering. Since COPPA support is enabled you will have to follow the instructions you received. (b) your account needs an activation. Some boards require all new registrations to be activated, either by yourself or by the administrator before you can log in. You will receive email from administrators with the activation link and the instructions.

How do I prevent my username from appearing in the online user listings?

In your profile you will find an option Hide your online status; if you switch this on you'll only appear to board administrators or to yourself. You will be counted as a hidden user.

Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click I've forgotten my password. Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time.

I’m under 13 years. Can I use this board?

Yes you can. But, since you’re younger than 13, you must provide permission from your parents that you can use this board, which is in compliance to COPPA.

I registered but I have not received the activation email?

Check if you have left correct email address. Also, give system some time. Your email should be delivered within 24 hours, but usually you won’t have to wait that long. If your activation link hasn’t been delivered within reasonable period of time (an hour or two), contact the board administrator.

Why is activation needed after the registration?

Activation is used is to reduce the possibility of rogue users abusing the board anonymously.

I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore?

The most likely reasons for this are: you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered), or the administrator has deactivated or deleted your account for some reason. If it is the latter case then perhaps you did not post anything? It is possible that boards periodically remove users who have not posted anything, so as to reduce the size of the database. Try registering again and engage in discussions.

Why do I get logged off automatically?

If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you log in, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university cluster, etc.

When I try to access the board, it says I’m banned?

Check the ban list on board’s front page. It’s possible that you’ve broken board rules, so your account might be temporarily or permanently suspended. If your name is not on the list, contact the board administrator.

Why did the confirmation email end in my junk (spam) box (Hotmail/Yahoo)?

AntiSpam systems by most free email services are very exhaustive. They block almost all emails except those that are white listed (some large companies, etc.) or those you were in contact earlier. Go to your Junk box, restore the email and accept emails from www.realpoor.com in the future.

How do I change my settings?

All your settings (if you are registered) are stored in the database. To alter them click the Profile link (generally shown at the top of pages but this may not be the case). This will allow you to change all your settings.

The times are not correct!

The times are almost certainly correct; however, what you may be seeing are times displayed in a timezone different from the one you are in. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the timezone to match your particular area, e.g. London, Paris, New York, Sydney, etc. Please note that changing the timezone, like most settings, can only be done by registered users. So if you are not registered, this is a good time to do so, if you pardon the pun!

I changed the timezone and the time is still wrong!

If you are sure you have set the timezone correctly and the time is still different, the most likely answer is daylight savings time (or summer time as it is known in the UK and other places). The board is not designed to handle the changeovers between standard and daylight time so during summer months the time may be an hour different from the real local time.

How do I show an image below my username?

There may be two images below a username when viewing posts. The first is an image associated with your rank; generally these take the form of stars or blocks indicating how many posts you have made or your status on the forums. Below this may be a larger image known as an avatar; this is generally unique or personal to each user. It is up to the board administrator to enable avatars and they have a choice over the way in which avatars can be made available. If you are unable to use avatars then this is the decision of the board admin and you should ask them their reasons (we're sure they'll be good!)

How do I change my rank?

In general you cannot directly change the wording of any rank (ranks appear below your username in topics and on your profile depending on the style used). Most boards use ranks to indicate the number of posts you have made and to identify certain users. For example, moderators and administrators may have a special rank. Please do not abuse the board by posting unnecessarily just to increase your rank -- you will probably find the moderator or administrator will simply lower your post count.

How do I get a rank other than default ranks?

You earn other ranks by showing a certain amount of contribution to the site by helping others. Custom ranks are given to valuable members who remind other users of the rules, help new comers understand the site, contribute with useful material, write articles, and help building and promoting the community through activities on board and outside the board.

I cannot edit/delete my posts. Why?

Since many members feel they should edit or delete their posts once they had received their answers although other members have joined and participated in the threads in question, the forum staff has decided to disable the edit/delete option for regular forum members because they feel editing and deleting such posts would be disrespectful to other forum members. Only a moderator or an administrator can edit or delete a post.

If you are a registered user, you will get notifications each time your post gets answered. Make sure "Always notify me of replies" option is checked in your profile (which is a default option anyway).

It means you have not been permitted to write articles on the board yet. In case you would like to contribute your unique article on the board, you should contact an administrator for approval.

How do I post a topic in a forum?

Easy -- click the relevant button on either the forum or topic screens. You may need to register before you can post a message. The facilities available to you are listed at the bottom of the forum and topic screens (the You can post new topics, You can vote in polls, etc. list)

How do I edit or delete a post?

Unless you are the board admin or forum moderator you can only edit or delete your own posts. You can edit a post (sometimes for only a limited time after it was made) by clicking the edit button for the relevant post. If someone has already replied to the post, you will find a small piece of text output below the post when you return to the topic that lists the number of times you edited it. This will only appear if no one has replied; it also will not appear if moderators or administrators edit the post (they should leave a message saying what they altered and why). Please note that normal users cannot delete a post once someone has replied.

How do I add a signature to my post?

To add a signature to a post you must first create one; this is done via your profile. Once created you can check the Add Signature box on the posting form to add your signature. You can also add a signature by default to all your posts by checking the appropriate radio box in your profile. You can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box on the posting form.

Why was my post deleted?

Double posts, off-topic posts, questions that have already been answered too many times (see if there are FAQs within appropriate boards), advertising, rude or offensive posts, will be deleted by the forum moderators.

How do I create a poll?

Creating a poll is easy -- when you post a new topic (or edit the first post of a topic, if you have permission) you should see a Add Poll form below the main posting box. If you cannot see this then you probably do not have rights to create polls. You should enter a title for the poll and then at least two options -- to set an option type in the poll question and click the Add option button. You can also set a time limit for the poll, 0 being an infinite amount. There will be a limit to the number of options you can list, which is set by the board administrator

How do I edit or delete a poll?

As with posts, polls can only be edited by the original poster, a moderator, or board administrator. To edit a poll, click the first post in the topic, which always has the poll associated with it. If no one has cast a vote then users can delete the poll or edit any poll option. However, if people have already placed votes only moderators or administrators can edit or delete it; this is to prevent people rigging polls by changing options mid-way through a poll

Why can't I access a forum?

Some forums may be limited to certain users or groups. To view, read, post, etc. you may need special authorization which only the forum moderator and board administrator can grant, so you should contact them.

How to post in adequate forums?

Before posting your question, think about which forum it would fit the most to. The whole board is divided into categories (such as pregnancy, nervous system, men's health, etc) and the categories additionally into forums (pregnancy: trying to conceive & women's fertility; could I be pregnant?; problems in pregnancy; miscarriage and abortion; delivery & postnatal talk). By choosing the appropriate forum, you get the bigger chances of having your question answered.

Why can't I vote in polls?

If you are looking for information about a specific doctor, you can use our Find a Doctor FREE service. It is possible to leave reviews about doctors but make sure you specify which doctor you are talking about in the subject field or within your post. Without submitting the doctor's name in the title and content, your post will not be saved. Abusive and insulting content or rude language in reviews won't be accepted.

How do I get credits?

To get 3 credits needed for trading, you must have 9 posts, posted in non-trading (general and gaming) forums, or posted as replies in trading topics. Your posts, however, should be meaningful, informative and related with content in topic and other posts, otherwise they'll be considered as credit spam. Credits could be acquired through other activities as well, such as writing articles. Current Credit Rule Setup:

What is Credit Spam?

All posts that member made just to be able to open a trade and posts consisted of only one word, image emoticon (or smiley), verbal description of emoticon or emotion (LOL, LMAO, WTF,…), short phrases of agreement, disagreement, approval or disapproval (I agree, You’re wrong,…), quoted post of another members without genuine content, will be considered as credit spam and will lead to the temporary account suspension.
If you just want to trade you can buy some credits, rather than spamming.

Where should I post my trading topic?

Once when you acquired enough credits, you can post your trade. REALPOOR.COM trading section is divided into categories in order to simplify search and listing of trades. Trading section contains following categories: World of Warcraft Trading Zone, Runescape Trading Zone, General Trading Zone, Hardware Trading Zone and Software & Games Trading Zone. Each category contains following trading forums: Buy, Sell and Exchange. First you have to choose right forum.
If you have account to SELL be sure to place your topic in SELL forum. This category is designed for selling your accounts and items for real money. Not for EXCHANGE for other game items or game money.
If you want to EXCHANGE your account or some item for other account, item or for some game money, place your offer in EXCHANGE forums, not in SELL or BUY forum.
If you want to BUY accounts, items, or game currency for real money, place your bid in BUY section, not in SELL or EXCHANGE forums.
If you want to Buy/Sell/Exchange items and accounts for Runescape, place your bids in Runescape Trading Zone in appropriate forum.

How can I make proper trading topic?

Trading topic should be consisted of short description of the character or other item you're selling, you want to buy or offer for exchange.

Description should be informative enough for all members, including topic title, which should have concise description of what can be found in topic. That includes purpose of the trade (WTB, WTS, and WTT) and name of character or other item (with levels or other specific parts).

In the trade, besides the character description, you can post additional notes, payment methods and upload ingame screenshots of your character or other item.

After certain period of time or after receiving a proper offer, you should finish your trade.

What will happen if I post my trade in wrong forum or category?

If you place trading topic for one game in another's game forum or in forums other than trading forums (General, Gaming, etc.), your trade will be canceled and you’ll be warned, suspended or banned depending on severity and/or repetition of violation.

Warning will be posted upon cancelation of the trade in trading topic, or you may receive private message from board moderators or administrators.

What would happen if I ignore the warning?

You’ll be suspended accordingly from 1 day till 1 month depending on severity and/or repetition of violation. If your violation is repeated after your suspension or after several warnings, you might be banned permanently.

How do I finish the trade?

Once when you received the offer in your trade topic and you agree to conclude the trade, you should finish it successfully.

First step is changing trade status to Payment in progress. You will do this simply. On the bottom of your trade topic, there is a button Close Trade. When you press it, you will open a Reply Box, where you'll be able to change trade status and add comment or respond.

If you received payment, you should change your trade to Sold status. Steps are the same and you should choose Sold option from the Scroll Down menu.

If you didn't received payment or payment process has been interrupted for some other reason, you should change your trade to Canceled.

Remember that you can change your trade to Sold, only if you previously changed status to Payment in progress.

Trade status can be changed to Canceled any time.

Can I place my email address and other contact info in the trade?

No, you're not allowed to place your contact info, including email address, instant messengers into your trading topic.

This is because of your safety mostly and to ensure that trade is initiated on the forum.

For example someone who contacts you for the item you're trading, doesn't necessary have to be RealPoor member. If you've been scammed, RealPoor staff cannot do anything to help you with this matter.

Also, placing contact info in your trade can lead to your account suspension.

I made a mistake. Can I edit or delete my trade?

To avoid possible misuses, members are not allowed to edit or delete their posts. If you need correction or removal of information, please contact moderators, super moderators or admins to fix the problem.

Can I BUMP my trade?

Bumping the topic or bringing the topic up is not recommended. Actual trade bumping has no effect since trading topics are sorted by date, so bumping will not move the topic.

I got a PM from a member who's asking me to trade without posting a bid in my trade. What should I do?

Never accept offers via PM only! Insist that member who sent you PM, post in your topic first! This is an obvious scam attempt and this member is trying to pull you away from our trading system. Please report this member to the forum Staff immediately.

Which bids do I have to accept?

You’ll have to accept BIN or Buy It Now bid. If you refuse to complete the trade with member who posted BIN, you must have valid reasons for doing that, otherwise your trade might be reported.

Can I accept lower bid, if higher bidder is suspicious, or doesn’t respond?

Yes you can. Just explain the reasons why you did that to member who posted the higher bid. Keep in mind that members with higher bid could report your trade, if you turn down their offer.

A BIN trader was a faker and didn’t want to complete the transaction. How can I change current Payment in progress status?

You should report this trader to adminstrators via Report Bad trade icon. Administrators will punish the trader for fake bidding and your trade will be rolled back to the state prior to this BIN action.

I traded successfully. How do I finish the trade?

I haven’t traded successfully. What should I do?

If you didn't received payment or payment process has been interrupted for some other reason, you should change your trade to Canceled.
Trade status can be changed to Canceled any time. You don’t have to use Payment in progress option first.
Also, do not close unsuccessful trade using Sold option. By doing that you violate forum rules.

I’ve been scammed! What should I do?

You should report scammer immediately using Report Bad Trade. Additionally, you have to collect all evidence and put your accusation along with valid proof in the Hall of Shame forum.

Does RealPoor offer any Middleman Services?

No, RealPoor is not offering the Middleman services so far. It's been stated in Disclaimer that RealPoor is only a venue for trades and not a direct participant in trades.

RealPoor is not responsible for any loss of virtual or any other goods during the trading process.

However, RealPoor will take proper measures against those members who have been committed scam or fraud or violated any forum rule.

Formatting and Topic Types

What is BBCode?

BBCode is a special implementation of HTML. Whether you can use BBCode is determined by the administrator. You can also disable it on a per post basis from the posting form. BBCode itself is similar in style to HTML: tags are enclosed in square braces [ and ] rather than < and > and it offers greater control over what and how something is displayed. For more information on BBCode see the guide which can be accessed from the posting page.

Can I use HTML?

That depends on whether the administrator allows you to; they have complete control over it. If you are allowed to use it, you will probably find only certain tags work. This is a safety feature to prevent people from abusing the board by using tags which may destroy the layout or cause other problems. If HTML is enabled you can disable it on a per post basis from the posting form.

What are Smileys?

Smileys, or Emoticons, are small graphical images which can be used to express some feeling using a short code, e.g. :) means happy, :( means sad. The full list of emoticons can be seen via the posting form. Try not to overuse smileys, though, as they can quickly render a post unreadable and a moderator may decide to edit them out or remove the post altogether.

Can I post Images?

Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. Therefore you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor to images stored behind authentication mechanisms such as Hotmail or Yahoo mailboxes, password-protected sites, etc. To display the image use either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed).

What are Announcements?

Announcements often contain important information and you should read them as soon as possible. Announcements appear at the top of every page in the forum to which they are posted. Whether or not you can post an announcement depends on the permissions required, which are set by the administrator.

What are Locked topics?

Locked topics are set this way by either the forum moderator or board administrator. You cannot reply to locked topics and any poll contained inside is automatically ended. Topics may be locked for many reasons.

To write an article you need to have special permissions or to reach certain amount of posts (400 for now). However, if you think you have good writing skills and you are able to contribute with your useful articles, then please don't hesitate to contact one of the administrators and send them your article via the PM. If the article is satisfying, administrators will set your permissions for article writing.

To backup your claims you need to have screenshots of the user sending his/her E-mail address or any other kind of instant messaging chat to you. If the trade was done through RealPoor.com private messaging system, you must provide screenshots of everything said between yourself and the user (scammer).

You must provide other screenshots such as your outside conversation with a scammer (MSN, AIM, other IM) and screenshots of disputes in the payment process (reversals, freezes,...).

Once you have gathered all of information needed, you can post screenshots and other information needed for the Hall of Shame.

I’ve been accused for scam and listed in Hall of Shame! What should I do?

If you’ve been accused for scam and you failed to respond after 48 hours or after you’ve been notified by administrator or moderator, you’ll be considered as guilty and banned and listed as a scammer with all of your contact info.
You should also post all proof available to back up your claims:

a) link to the topic where trade has occurred
b) screenshots of your RealPoor private message communication
c) screenshots of you payment process
Additionally:
d) screenshots of your outside conversation via messenger
e) every other proof where your innocence could be clearly viewed

How to take screenshot as evidence?

It’s quite simple. Use Print Screen on your keyboard to capture the page you want (PM inbox, trading topic, PayPal page, etc.). Paste the picture in MS Paint or similar program. Crop it to acceptable size and save as .bmp.
Convert .bmp file to .jpg using Photoshop or similar program.
Upload .jpg file to one of the image hosting sites (ImageShack, Photobucket, etc.).
Post link of the image wrapped in [IMG] tags on Realpoor.

Am I able to order Elite Package using my PayPal account?

Unfortunately, PayPal doesn’t provide authentication details, so we are not able to accept PayPal. Only credit card orders are acceptable, since this is the important part of authentication process.
Am I able to use credit card from my parents or my relatives/friends? No, this is not acceptable. Credit card information has to equal with additionally provided data, which means the name on the card should be applicant’s name. This is the only way to authenticate a trader, all other solutions are not acceptable.

What will happen if my credit card information wouldn’t match with additionally provided documents?

Nothing, your rank will remain unchanged. We would charge you the fee but wouldn’t authenticate you as Elite Trader. Requesting a refund wouldn’t be possible since you agreed upon basic conditions, which is the rule that name on the credit card has to be YOUR name, as well as the billing address has to be your home address.

How to trade with Elite Trader rank?

The chart below explains the entire process, starting from registration:

1. Both, seller and buyer have to register on RealPoor.com first to be able to trade their items/accounts. Once you registered you will receive Registration Confirmation Email where you have to confirm that this email address belongs to you.

2. Right after you have to click on Order Elite Trader Package banner or link which is clearly visible and available on several location on the website, or Click Here to access Elite Trader Package order page.

3. Order has to be made with a credit card which is the first step of authentication process. Other payment methods are not acceptable. If you don’t have a credit card with your name on it, do not continue this process!

4. Payment gateway will process your order which can take up to several minutes or even an hour in case your order information is suspected as a fraudulent. Right after successful order you will receive an ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL from EMETRIX (our credit card processor).

5. Along with order confirmation you will receive a link that points to AUTHENTICATION APPLICATION you have to submit in order to complete second part of authentication process. Fill out needed fields and attach scanned ID or Passport, and your personal picture (frontal view).

6. RealPoor.com Trade Inspector will inspect submitted data and compare it with data from credit card processor. This authentication process can take up to 48 hours. In case you don’t receive response from RealPoor.com 48 hours after your order confirmation receive, please contact RealPoor administrator right away.

7. If all data match with each other, than you have to receive a confirmation email from RealPoor.com with instructions on how to proceed further.

8. You will automatically be able to access Elite Trading Zone as well as Public Trading Zone. You will get chance to post a trade on one or both of these zones. Publishing on Public zone will allow search engines to index your trade page and allow all traders to post bids. Publishing only on Elite Zone will allow only Elite Traders to post bids/offers. This trade will remain hidden during and after trading. Both traders have to stick to Trading conditions and terms and do the entire correspondence on the site.

9. If you complete your trade successfully, then use one of agreed payment terms and account/item transfer methods. Close your trade in order to get one SOLD credit. If you forget to close your trade, trade will expire or moderators will close it as CANCELLED.
a. If trade doesn’t go successfully or as agreed one or both parities report or accuse another trading parity for a scammer, then a Trade Dispute has to be filled by relevant payment gateway (usually PayPal). Elite Traders have to report this to RealPoor Administrator as well providing him with adequate arguments that prove the accusation. Accusation has to be posted in Hall of Shame (Elite or Public Zones, depending where the trade was posted).

b. In case you traded your account/items on Public Trade Zones and used PayPal or other payment gateway to transfer your funds to another trading parity and possible dispute occurred, then use PayPal dispute or other dispute methods to retrieve your funds.

c. RealPoor Administrator inspects all the arguments and contact both parities. In case that accused parity is not responding in period of 24 hours, RealPoor administrator will close the dispute (opened in Hall of Shame) in favor of pursuer.

d. In case both parities respond within 24 hours and have adequate arguments, RealPoor Administrator has to release opposite authentication documents to both parities and ask them to contact local authorities to clear this dispute.

e. Both traders will receive personal name and address of each other as well as the contact information. They have to use this information to contact each other and try to clear the situation without arbitration. RealPoor.com cannot and will not be arbitrator in such disputes.

f. The running dispute has to be cleared or a complaint has to be filled to local authority which is authorized to clear such disputes.
10. After trade closure, traders will be asked to leave VOUCHES. Vouches will be visible on member’s profile. More positive vouches give more credibility to a trader. Vouches will be able to post only if trade is closed as SOLD.

What are Administrators?

Administrators are people assigned the highest level of control over the entire board. These people can control all facets of board operation which include setting permissions, banning users, creating usergroups or moderators, etc. They also have full moderator capabilities in all the forums.

Moderators are individuals (or groups of individuals) whose job it is to look after the running of the forums from day to day. They have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics in the forum they moderate. Generally moderators are there to prevent people going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material.

What are Rookie Moderators?

Rookie Moderators are members with trial Moderator permissions. They have to prove themselves in pursuing of daily Moderator activities for a period of minimal 30 days in order to become Moderators.

What are Usergroups?

Usergroups are a way in which board administrators can group users. Each user can belong to several groups (this differs from most other boards) and each group can be assigned individual access rights. This makes it easy for administrators to set up several users as moderators of a forum, or to give them access to a private forum, etc.

How do I join a Usergroup?

To join a usergroup click the usergroup link on the page header (dependent on template design) and you can then view all usergroups. Not all groups are open access -- some are closed and some may even have hidden memberships. If the board is open then you can request to join it by clicking the appropriate button. The user group moderator will need to approve your request; they may ask why you want to join the group. Please do not pester a group moderator if they turn your request down -- they will have their reasons.

Private Messaging

I cannot send private messages!

There are three reasons for this; you are not registered and/or not logged on, the board administrator has disabled private messaging for the entire board, or the board administrator has prevented you individually from sending messages. If it is the latter case you should try asking the administrator why.

I keep getting unwanted private messages!

In the future we will be adding an ignore list to the private messaging system. For now, though, if you keep receiving unwanted private messages from someone, inform the board administrator -- they have the power to prevent a user from sending private messages at all.

I have received a spamming or abusive email from someone on this board!

We are sorry to hear that. The email form feature of this board includes safeguards to try to track users who send such posts. You should email the board administrator with a full copy of the email you received and it is very important this include the headers (these list details of the user that sent the email). They can then take action.

Some private messages stay in my Outbox for days and months instead of being sent?

The recipient’s Inbox is full so it cannot receive more messages. Unfortunately, nothing can be done until recipient logs in and clears Inbox.

Private Message Inbox is limited to 50 messages. In order to receive new messages, you have to delete old ones. That could be reason why you cannot access your old PMs.

All information posted on RealPoor.com are and remain public and will be available on search engines (including Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc). In case you had already registered and posted a question that could discredit you, you should contact our administrator and ask them for assistance in this matter. They can change your username or remove your personal data from any public post. However, we are not able to influance results shown on other websites including search engines or web directories. Basically, search engines re-index particular pages and content in less then 7 days. Otherwise, if you need faster removal procedure, please contact the particular webiste/search engine for assistance.
