Whatever that screenshot is from I think it's safe to say that Verant didn't make it.

Verant leads the industry in wasting polygons and those models are low poly. The odds of Verant creating a low poly, good looking, 3d model, are exceedingly slim.

You can only complete setting up a base after you camp a rare spawn, that spawns every 3 days and only drops it's needed loot 5% of the time!

Hello All,

Well that looks a hell of a lot like WC3. The models are kind of cool, but what is this game going to be? An EQ version of WarCraft?

Yeah, it's very similar to WC3. Sony has been working with Rapid Eye Entertainment for the past 10 months or so on developing an EQ RTS game.

This spring they're unveiling alot of it at E3 and I'd expect it will be out later this fall/winter.

that's an interesting point actually, Paden.. SOE doesn't seem to know how to make ANYTHING that doesn't have a recurring monthly fee associated with it.

Would they dare to charge for a RTS?? The makers of Battle.net are spinning in their graves.

-Nah-

Duh, SOE is a business, not a charity.

I find it interesting how people complain that SOE charges monthly fee to play EQ, and noone complains that Microsoft does the same for AC and AC2, that Funcom does it for AO, that Mythic does it for DAoC, that EA does it for UO.

People all seem to think that Blizzard are gods and perferct...wanna talk about milking a franchise...Blizzard has lived off for past about 8 years on 3 franchise...Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft...they been doing sequels, expensions, and now a spinoff in the form of World of Warcraft of those 3 titles for years but noone see it as wrong except when SoE does it. WoW will have a monthly fee also it won't be free they said so from the start.

I never understood the hate people seem to have toward SoE.

UO had monthly fees before EQ, and I think Meridian 59 did too before that also, so did a few mud like Gemstone 3. SoE didn't start it.

People hate SoE for their random nerfage. Isn't that enough?

It was a bad sign the day they nerfed the dark elf mask, an item existing solely for the pure enjoyment of the players. We all should've quit then, they set the trend that day. Wink

Blizzard is going to try and take over the Online RPG world...this is Verant's retaliation perhaps?

Unlike UO and M59, EQ's popularity was overwhelming. 5 months after release the game had 2k people per server regularly at about 15-20 servers. That kind of traffic isn't pocket change, especially when you're hosting patches on a weekly basis that are several meg in size and for 2 years you could download THE ENTIRE GAME and all the expansions from the patch servers.

Realisticly they could pay for it with like $2 dollars a month from customers (if that) but they have to continue paying Verant employees to keep fixing the game as it comes out.

The increase in price that verant tossed in was just greedy desperation, they saw people were willing to pay 12 bucks for DAOC and soon for AC2 so they popped it up a couple bucks.

BTW: If that's an EQ RTS it looks VERY impressive.
