So this is the studio 2929 soderberg film that will go down in history.
it is the first feature film to have simultaneous DVD and PPV TV releases.
There is all sorts of debate over whether or not this will damage the theatre industry. google it and see.
creepy shit though.

Every time I sit down to watch a DVD I wonder why the f**k anybody still goes to the theater to see a movie. I can appreciate the "you have to see it on the big screen" argument if you have a 13" TV, but if you have anything bigger than that, the pros of watching it at home almost always outweigh the cons, at least for me. No retarded kids running around screaming; no f*****g cell phones going off throughout the movie; no asses shining laser pointers at the screen; no being squashed in next to unwashed, smelly people; not missing anything when you get up to pee; not being restricted to a $5 cup of soda and a $5 box of popcorn as your only food items; and best of all, not having to pay $10 per person just to walk in the door and experience all of the above. I can't think of a movie that would be good enough to get me back into the theater these days, after my last experience, which was horrible. Plus the movies they're rolling out seem to be getting worse and worse. Crap movies + crap theaters = revenue down... but hey, let's blame the internets.

Oh, and I didn't think that trailer was creepy; after reading the blurb about the movie, the trailer just seemed disappointing.

The only reason I found it creepy is because babies are moderately ugly to me and they all looked like babies with giant acne.

Except for the fact that the screen looks better at theatres, and the surround sound kicks ass, o and some people actually feel better if they get out, and do something other than sit on their ass, you are 1000% correct. (that's right 1000%)

The screen in general doesn't look better at theaters, especially when you're looking at it from a 40 degree angle. The only movie I've ever seen in a theater where I was impressed at the image quality was whichever of the Star Wars prequels I saw at a digital theater. That was much better than any other theater I've ever seen. You can get surround sound for your house for like $50 now, and in fact more often than not I found theaters to be too loud - the the point where I (and others) have my hands over my ears during loud sequences.
And while I can appreciate wanting to "get out of the house," it's just not worth it. For 2 adults to go to the movies it costs like $35 now; for $35 I'd rather go to a restaurant. BTW, neither going to the movies nor going to a restaurant qualify as not "sitting on your ass."

Good point with the sitting on your ass part...I don't see where your getting that jacked up price total from though. A ticket generally costs 8 bucks around here at night, and as low as 4:50 during the day. (I think it is 5:50 all day on sundays) So ticketprice never exceeds 20 dollars for 2 people around here, and well....buying food at the theatre is just f*****g retarded. Sneak a pop, and some candy in or something, or just wait 2 hours to eat.
Sorry wrong choice of words on the screen "looking better" but it is deffinatley larger than it is at my house, and that's what I was trying to say. Plus when you see a movie in the theatre, your seeing it 6months - 1year before it's released to the public, and you can watch it at home. (unless you download it, but that brings up a whole other aspect, such as s****y quality, and taking the time to download movies instead of porn.
P.S. You're getting ripped off on ticket prices.

Adult $9.75
This is the standard adult price in the metro NY area. This is one of the few theaters with comfortable seats. And sometimes you go to the movies with other people, including, in many cases, females who insist on getting popcorn.

We pay $9.25 around here. After seeing the latest disappointing movie, I've decided to only see movies that will look impressive on the big screen (such as King Kong and maybe a few Bruckheimer/Bay films).

Some movies have to be seen on the big screen, if you really want to enjoy them. Manhattan still has a few that are giant, like in the old days. I go to the one by MOMA at least once a year just for the hell of it. Best time to hit the movies is a monday afternoon when school is open. No teens, no babies, no teens, and no teens.

the brand new theatre 3 minutes from my house has 7 dollar tickets while the older one about 10 miles away has 6 dollar tickets. The new place always has tons of n*****s who wont shut up though.

Sounds like the kids there suck... the movies here are great I never hear any cellphones go off or see any annoying kids run around although once there was this pair of hobos that came and sat beside us and one fell asleep on my friend's arm, that was probably the only negative experience I've had in a cinema... aside from terrible films ofcourse.
I was talking to my friend the other day about this actually. I tend to get easily distracted if I'm watching films at home, and go find something else to do, where in a cinema my attention is 100% focused. Also there's always the good discussion of the movie with friends afterwards which you probably won't get if you see the movie 6 months after release at home with friends since they all saw it at the theatre anyway because they're not shut ins.

Yah people don't talk on cell phones around here either really, no one is that retarded. (most people anyways) The occasional baby cries or whatever, but *shrugs* it's just a baby o well, some crap you gotta deal with.

There is a theatre here that only charges $1.50 a ticket. They only have the movies that the big theatres have stopped showing though. It's generally a month or two months behind, but for the price I cannot complain.

just go see it a few weeks after it comes out, at an off time at best. i just saw underworld and there were only a couple other people in the theatre. i guess that doesn't really apply to you in nyc tho. you live in a city, stop crying about too many people around you.
