I apologize for not replying until now -- the queue system for Battlegrounds was still in the works. How it appears to be working is that there will be multiple instances, not just one. - Caydiem -

The queue is in place to ensure an equal start. For example, you cannot take ten Horde, run in and start doing quests while the Alliance is still preparing. Thus you wait in a "queue" until the appropriate number of players are ready. - Caydiem -
