European carrier, but our phones are unlocked.
I grabbed a firmware update from http://www.howardforums.com/index.php? a couple months ago, did a new one release recently? The one I got enabled video recording~ (wonder why that's not available in all cell phones they sell - pretty big plus)
Beyond that I don't really know what useful software exists for cell phones, I don't play games on it.

look into seem edits. use p2kman, usb drivers, and download seems. search for seem player or motorola_tool and use those. seem player is pretty nice.
you can adjust every aspect of the phone from volume levels, to whether or not the carrier shows on the front screen.
i edited my skins so that my date and time showed just above my 2 soft keys and my entire screen was empty to display wallpaper and screen savers. i edited my seems to add engineering menu so i can view what cell tower i'm on and the actual recieve level in db.

I have a (gimp but functional) t720 ... I am completely cell-illiterate beyond filling the phone book and sending msgs. I tried the howard forums, but didn't figure out a thing from there. Any quick n easies you suggest?
I can't even figure out how to send screensavers or backgrounds.. pathetic.... :p

T720 on what carrier?
see carriers determine what kind of phone you have. T720 on alltel or verizon is a CDMA phone and you have to use GAGIN or get around get it now its called.
cingular and others you use other methods.
i have a GSM motorola V635 and a CDMA c341. The gsm phone is much easier to mod. So far the only thing i've done with the CDMA phone is get PST to connect, download the PRL file, and transfer it to another CDMA phone to turn onto my network.
and don't try moving prl files between verizon phones, i guess they have a database of ESN numbers and wont turn on any phone unless they have the ESN in their system.

use p2kman and xlr8's seem edit. adjust your gain table to around 5 or so for each thing. greatly increases the listening volume of the ear piece. you need a data cable though.
also seem edit send/recieve calls so each number lists seperatly each time it calls.
i seem edit my phone to add engineering menu, i removed the web button since cingular charges if you accidently hit it. p2kmenuedit is used for editing your buttons and what they do. you can swap your send/end buttons or the soft keys.

got a link to a step-by-step guide for the razrV3 to do these two things? Can't count how many times I hit that internet key, conveniently placed above the 'dial' button =/
That tower thing would also be nice~
On another note - is there anything you can do to improve reception? imo the quality improved after I installed the latest firmware, but I still get no reception at this one spot below ground where other people happily call away =/
Could be my carrier I suppose, but maybe there's a way to get the tiny bit more it needs for regular calls - I get an "emergency only" message, so there has to be some kind of connection...

for RF usually its the firmware. check out howard forums for the latest, i could look but im gone for the weekend and wont check this post til monday.
as for the a630 look on howard also. its not a triplets phone or a popular one but you might can find some info on it.
the V3 is just like a v600 or v635. check out that xlr8 link i posted above for all seem edits and how to do them. its hex editing, but seemplayer and a couple other progs make it super easy.

bump for someone looking for MPT. i believe its uploaded on my website as mobilephonetools_US. once you install it do the live update to get to 3.25 version.
T720 on alltel is a CDMA phone, you'll have to use GAGIN (Get Around Get It Now) which was created for verizon to copy files instead of using GET IT NOW!. The problem is with GAGIN that you can't upload new files, only overwrite existing ones. When I had a T720 I downloaded 2-3 songs from get it now, and the overwrote them with files i uploaded via GAGIN.
