is it possible to upload a wav file to use as a ringtone using one of these?
do i need some sort of software to do this?

Depends on the cellphone, not all accept .wav files. On some you can upload the file as an mp3 and it still works. You need a program for it, but that also depends on the manufacturer.
Which one do you have?
