|
|
|
After realizing that I have over 500 CDs and DVDs burned, I think it's time that I find some software that lets me put in a disc, and it will read it and store it in some database that I can search on.
Anyone had any experience with this type of software and have any recomendations or opinions?
thanks

lol, I use leather cases for my music CD's and seperate mini cases for my games and software. For my movies I have a large case I put them al into. All of these cases are stacked on the corner of my home desk.

see my problem is this. I get a song in my head, then have to spend an hour finding the disk it's on. By then I forget the song I originally wanted. I could write a program to do this, but why bother, i'm sure it's been done well already.

1) Go buy a CueCat scanner off E-bay. It is a cheesy wand, but it reads UPC codes. Costs like $12.99 for 2 by the time you factor in shipping.
Read about the cuecat here for its sordid history.

Click here to see an ebay search for them
2) Get Music Collector
Send me a tell if you want a crackfor the pro version.
3) Scan cd's with wand, watch it import, run reports and make html pages, print to hearts content.
Love,
Frashii

http://www.equi4.com/catfish.html
i have been using Catfish for several years, it is very simple and take a snaphot of any disk, harddrive or folder
it does have several draw backs,
hasn't been updated in a couple of years
can only search words upto 15 letters long
the directory window only displays like 18 letters and can not be englarged, while the file viewer can be.
can only export single disk at a time as .txt file
but it is
pretty fast and simple
small, with some 800+ disks and 1,000,000+ files is only 35 megs
(10 megs zip) so i can mail it
