some sites arent workin for me any more. but they are at work.

about 1 outta 10 sites dont work. everything else is fine and fast.

I have a router. have reset everything. i simply get Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer

If i try to ping one that doesnt work i get:
Pinging www.warnerbros.com [64.12.46.148] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.

but works great from work.

do a tracer route on it...

its highly possible that a router is down somewhere else and its looping your request... if your work is a bit away it might take a different path to the site so you dont get that error.

Before any of that tho try connecting dirrectly to the internet through the modem without a router.. narrow it down a bit.

that atleast is timing out somewhere other than your router.. theres prolly a hub down or f*****g up somewhere... might be that atdn.net place is pushing your around in some weird way.. atleast it looks like that might be it.. since you hit it 4 times in the row and the latency is pretty high between them...

atdn is owned by AOL.. so its prolly a problem there.. i wouldnt worry about this unless it lasts longer than a week.. sometimes they take awhile to fix this kinda stuff.

Atleast it's not a DNS problem, so long as you're getting an IP back for the web address you're looking for. Though you might want to check at work to see if the IP you get when you try to ping there is difrent from the one you get at home, your cable's DNS could just be in need of an address update.

Could be atdn's network OR it could be that they have ICMP filters on in which case traceroute will time out as will ping since they both use ICMP to perform their job. It also could be the webserver you're trying to hit most large sites, not sure if warnerbro's uses them though use Akamai for content aggregation as its easier and more cost convenient to use a third party which is hosted in many datacenters to send out your content then have your own datacenter facility hosting your content..

Is it only 64.x.x.x IP addresses? I have this problem occsaionally with that IP Set. I usually have to log into my modem, reset all settings, then reboot modem and router. After that it works fine. No f*****g clue why it does it but it only happens with 64.x.x.x (Google, CNN, etc..)

google works fine and always has. I'm gonna have to start paying attention to the IPs i guess.

I went into my HOSTS file which is the default one btw. I gave wowrankings.com yahoo's IP and it loaded up yahoo just fine. I then removed that entry, and it loads yahoo still. I hit refresh and it waits about 5 secs then reloads yahoo.

I've reset my cache and stuff for IE. and it does the same in firefox.

for s***s and giggles:

Code:
C:\DOCUME~1\KIREOL>ftp wowrankings.com
Unknown host wowrankings.com.
ftp> quit

C:\DOCUME~1\KIREOL>ftp 64.27.1.192
> ftp: connect :Unknown error number
ftp> quit

well hmm, so you're not getting DNS host resolution. You can obviously traceroute to the IP of the host so thats cool. If you can't browse by IP though then there's an issue. If it were me, I'd put a packet sniffer on there. You can get ethereal for free and then post the log on here for me to look at if you want.

I had the same problem yesterday. 1 out of 10 sites were working for me. I did a DNS cache flush and it resolved the issue. Command line is this: ipconfig /flushdns
