Bose is way overpriced.

There's seriously so much better stuff out there for the money, just do some research.

I'd never buy them personally, but they have their place such as:

If your wife won't stand for larger speakers in the living room.
You want a set of speakers in another room, and they wont be used much.
You live in a studio apartment.
You don't care what your home theater sounds like as long as its good enough for you to hear whats going on in the movie.

Assuming you want something that sounds good, go to www.avsforums.com and start reading.

Oh, and to answer your original question, Bose has fixed prices so you are going to pay the same amount wherever you go.

The only Bose product I would buy is their totem pole amp system for guitar/vocals. That kicks the shit out of any other portable amp I've ever heard. It's also about three times the price of most amps.

As for their speakers, take a good look at Klipsch. I was looking at a Bose system for monitoring/computer shit, when my neighbor had me listen to his Reference setup. g*****n orgasmic.

if your looking for some really good bookshelf style speakers for reasonable price you can't go wrong with paradigm
if your looking for a cheep 5.1 system check out the
cinema 90's for fronts the cinema CC for center and cinema adp for rears
and a pdr10 for sub.

A couple years ago I shopped around a lot on speakers. Bose were overpriced and the sound was horrible. The best way that I found to shop for speakers is to bring some CDs (some with a lot of base, some with a lot of vocals, some with a lot of horns) and visit stores ranging from mass retail to very high-end stereo stores. Listen to the speakers that are way out of your price range and compare them to the ones within your price range. Also, keep in mind that your receiver will have an impact on sound quality.

Im not sure how they are with the bookshelf models, but I settled on Klipsch (a pair of full sized and a center). They used to have a reputation for having outstanding treble and being slightly weak on base, but I have seen no issues with the base on the models I have compared to older models. I also looked at Polk and B&W. I had friends with them so I listened to them and I got their opinions. I was not really satisfied with Polk and B&W was outside my price range. After I picked the manfacturer and model, I started hunting around in stores, online, and on the auction site for them. The bottom line is that it all depends on your personal preferences for what type of sound you want.

Btw, if you are wanting to do a home theater system, I was told to only worry about the front pair and center. My friends said that it is best to have the same manufacturer for these and often certain front models go best with certain centers. The rears do not matter and can be any brand. I just thought Id throw that out there in case you were strapped for cash.

Audio speakers/2 channel:
NHT
Green Mountain
Triad
Jamo
Accoustic Research
BIC
higher end JBL

pretty much the same for Home Theater...
go for a matched set otherwise the tone is off and they're not "matched" to the best sound quality

f**k the Bose speakers! You should go with the... Bose suspension!!!

They'll be exactly the same as other suspension systems but it'll be mounted in an assanine way and have individual power or something.

You, however, can't even hit the right thread.

You could have just edited it and tried again instead of wasting more space.

Sounds like the American auto industry's policy - take up more space and it will make everything ok. Doesn't hurt if it uses more resources, either.

Can I call you Excursion from now on?

Yeah, because you know I drive a WRX. *rolls eyes*

Listen, Excursion, you don't even know enough about the foreign car market to start making accusations since you can't even match the right name to the right car. f**k, you can't even match the right post to the right topic. Ever tried playing the put-the-square-in-the-square-hole game? I thought not.

What the f**k good are you other than transporting 12 a******s at the rate of 8mpg? Breaking down and crying heavily, perhaps?

#1 - I never said you owned a WRX

#2 - I said you love it so, see Fanboi

#3 - WRX's use more gas than quite a few A M E R I C A N SUVs do as I already posted and linked

#4 - see the above post and note how arguments are won using facts, not whatever it is you do

its not that bose makes bad speakers really its just that they are overpriced, their small 2.1 speakers for example would be very competitve with other 2.1s at a price of 100 bucks.. but the bose retail for 300 so they suck =/

but it uses more than some american SUVs.
and he claims those SUVs are so bad like he's on a crusade
and he cant seem to see that he's going against his own thoughts.
