This movie makes me laugh out loud and choke on my milk and cookies.
Ethan Hawke is a f*****g p***y. A scrawny, wimpy, "sensitive man." Those are the only characters he is capable of playing. From the trailers it looks like he is supposed to be a bad ass in this movie. That just cannot work. Bruce Willis can play a bad ass, Denzel can play one, lots of actors can, but not Ethan Hawke. I think Harvey Fierstein is more intimidating than Ethan Hawke...
He should stick to films like Before and After Menopause (err Sunset).

In a overly sensitive, slightly girly kind of way. He was a gigantic p***y uncapable of making his own decisions for the first 3/4 of the movie.

Yeah he was, but in the final quarter of the movie he rose out of the shithole he was trapped in and schooled Denzel Washington.
This is called character development and makes for quality cinema.

Agreed. Training Day was one of the better films I've seen in the past few years, I just don't know I would consider Ethan Hawke a strong enough actor to carry the lead role in a "action" type movie.

It is not just about his acting ability. Ethan Hawke is a good actor. It is his physical appearance - he is a scrawny wimp who always looks like he is afraid of something - his whole persona oozes p***y and he cannot avoid that. He is great for sensitive male roles like Dead Poets Society, Before Sunset, or even the wimpy cop in Training Day. But carrying the tough guy lead in an action movie, as Jukas said no way.
Try to picture Ethan Hawke in Die Hard, or any Schwartzenegger movie, or as Dirty Harry...
