MPAA strikes against pirates with fake torrents

TorrentFreak has reported that the MPAA, RIAA and several anti-piracy organizations are constantly trying to trap people into downloading fake torrents. These torrents are hosted on trackers that are setup to collect IP addresses of all the pirates who try to download these files.
To make these traps more visible, Fenopy just introduced the FakeFinder. The FakeFinder lists the most popular fake torrents and the latest fake trackers. It also allows you to search for fake torrents by keyword or infohash.
The actual .torrent links for these fake files are blocked, and FakeFinder serves an informational purpose only. It is actually quite amusing to browse through these fake files and trackers. The companies that host these anti-piracy trackers came up with some interesting hostnames like dirtydevils.cyberbox.combr and bittorrent.isthebe.st .
Although most of the IPs of these fake trackers are already blocked by blocklist software like Peer Guardian. they still manage to collect the IP addresses of thousands of users who do fall for this trap. Most torrent site admins are aware of these fakes, and remove them as soon as they are uploaded. It is kind of a paradox. On the one hand anti-piracy organizations send thousands of takedown requests to torrent sites, while they upload fake files with similar titles themselves.
Some might argue that downloading a fake file is not really a criminal offense. And yes, it is doubtful if this evidence will hold up in court. However, the job of organizations like the MPAA is to scare people, and that is often enough for them. The first thing they will probably do is send a letter to your ISP saying that you tried to download so-and-so file. And even if they take it a step further, they try to settle before these things are played out in court.
FakeFinder shows that BitTorrent site admins are trying to track down these fake torrents, and it s a nice way to expose the darker side of anti-pira ...

Vista UAC (User Account Control) - How to kill the monster

Note: UAC is a security feature and disabling it will reduce the security of your system.

Vista UAC popups can be very irritating for most users. It has been annoying to the point where it can be seen as one of the biggest causes of frustrations and criticism towards the operating system. Thankfully there is an option that most users will easily find to turn it off but is this really the best way to kill the monster?

Here are some ways to avoid the annoyance caused by Vista's UAC:

Don't buy Vista and wait for Windows 7 and cross your fingers and hope it doesn't have the same thing.
    Never upgrade your windows.
    Switch operating systems.
    Go outside.
    Turn it off.
    Tell it to auto allow.

Here we will explore 5 and 6, mostly because 4 is unreasonable and the rest are filler.

Option 5 - Turn it off completely
UAC can be turned off completely! No more alerts at all!
This can be done in the following manner.

    Open the control panel
    Open User accounts
Make sure you are on your user page.
Click Turn User Account Control on or off
Deselect Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer
    Click ok.

Why would you not want to do this??
You lose the security benefits of UAC! With UAC anytime that a program is run that requires Administrator privileges it asks you if you want to give it to the program. This can be an advantage if you can't be trusted, but it's very annoying when running as the administrator. Another benefit of leaving it on is that it allows guest accounts to access these tools if they know an administrators user name and password. This makes troubleshooting guest accounts much easier to do since you can do it form within the account itself. There are also some programs that reportedly do not work properly or at all without UAC in place!

So you don't want the notification and still want some of the hidden protection it offers and want those progra ...

5 Reasons Why Sitting At The Computer Is Bad For Your Health

Sitting at the computer all day can pose some serious health risks. If you think that sitting doesn't involve a lot of work think again. Although it requires less muscular effort, the muscles are required to hold the trunk, the neck and shoulders in a fixed position.

Here are 5 reasons why sitting at the computer can be a health risk and tips to help correct these problems.

1. Poor posture. Poor alignment of the head, neck, shoulder and back causes stress and pain which affects every part of your body from head to toe and it can have lasting health problems.

Support your back. The backrest should fit the natural curve of your lower back. Your feet should be planted firmly on the floor or comfortably on a footrest. Keep a comfortable shoulder and arm posture. Avoid slouching. Keep your wrists straight and avoid any up, down or side way movements.

2. Eye strain. Constantly staring at the monitor can cause dry or watery eyes, sore, burning or itchy eyes, blurred or double vision and headaches all contribute to eye strain. Although there is no long-term consequences, it's rather unpleasant.

Take frequent breaks. Give your eyes a rest by focusing on something other than the monitor. You can also sit back and close your eyes for a few minutes or complete other tasks. Blinking lubricates the eye, so blink more often.

Place the monitor at least at arm's length. Make sure the top of the screen is at eye level so you're not straining to look up or down. Reduce unnecessary glare and check your lighting. The worst problems comes from overhead lighting or from behind. Dust on the monitor may contribute to glare and reflection problems. Lastly, adjust the contrast and brightness on the monitor that is comfortable for you.

3. Poor circulation. Prolonged sitting can cause fatigue in your limbs, painful leg cramps or blood clots. Get up and move around, go for a 30 minute walk, do some light exercises or stretches for your arms, shoulders, neck, back and legs. T ...

Next-Generation Intel Processor - Nehalem

Next-Generation Intel Microarchitecture

Intel's next-generation microarchitecture (codenamed Nehalem ) represents the next step in processor energy efficiency, performance, and dynamic scalability. Designed from the ground up to take advantage of hafnium-based Intel 45nm hi-k metal gate silicon technology, Nehalem will also be the first to introduce Intel QuickPath technology.

Nehalem will be released in late 2008 for high-end desktop and dual-processor platforms and in Q3 2009 for mainstream desktop and mobile platforms. The microarchitecture is the planned successor to the Core microarchitecture.

Now performance really does come on-demand

We've expanded and redefined what's possible for technologies to come:

    * Dynamic scalability, managed cores, threads, cache, interfaces, and power for energy-efficient performance on demand.
    * Design and performance scalability for server, workstation, PC, and mobile demands with support for 2-8+ cores and up to 16+ threads with simultaneous multi-threading (SMT), and scalable cache sizes, system interconnects, and integrated memory controllers.
    * Simultaneous multi-threading brings high-performance applications into mainstream computing with 1-16+ threads optimized for a new generation multi-core processor architecture.
    * Scalable shared memory of Intel QuickPath technology features memory distributed to each processor with integrated memory controllers and high-speed point-to-point interconnects to unleash the performance of next-generation Intel multi-core processors.
    * Multi-level shared cache improves performance and efficiency by reducing latency to frequently used data.

Technology

Various sources have stated Nehalem's specification will have:

    * Two, four, or eight cores

Respect - You'd best start earning it

Respect is one of the most (if not the most) important attributes for society to maintain, yet it is hard to define. On its broadest level respect is the acknowledgment that someone has value. They may be rich, work very hard, or may simply treat everyone in a way that gives them value. The importance on this value is that it changes peoples reactions towards you, usually in a positive way. A person is more likely to treat you nicely if you do what is asked of you instead of arguing with them. It is the value you earned while doing what you were told that has lead the person to respect you and therefore treat you nicely.

For some unexplainable reason, there has been an increase in members acting like juvenile delinquents. What i am referring to is the childlike behaviour of members accusing people of scamming without proof, the abusive PM's people receive and so forth. When you joined Realpoor, there were a set of registration terms you were asked to read before agreeing to. I am under no illusion's, i know the vast majority don't bother reading them which then ends up with them being suspended or banned. Since this sector of members has no intention of reading the rules, they will be dealt with the same way as anyone else who breaks our rules. For those who have an interest in staying as a member of the site i would like to point out a few issues we have been having lately:

- Spamming

I'm getting very tired of the members joining and spamming to gain credits. This is not exclusively a trading site, we are also a gaming community. Spamming our boards with i agree , lol funny , fhfhfhfh is not acceptable and will result in account suspension for 1 month. It is very simple to post nine constructive sentences to add to a discussion.

- Referral links

This has become an increasing issue over the past month. People have been posting topics such as How to get RS mem ...

How to record your voice on PC, edit the sound and export it to appropriate audio format?

As announced recently on RealPoor we are looking for your help in narration and voice synchronization of our animated comics (here is the latest sample but we are looking to improve the current feel look).

The comic/cartoon will be converted and uploaded on RealPoor YouTube channels as well.

Anyway, a lot of members have no clue on how to record their own voice on PC. This is an ultimate guide on how to record your own voice using Audacity, a freeware for voice and audio recording.

Here you can find and read all Audacity features, to learn how this tool performs.

Then go and download this software EXE installer by clicking here

System requirements for this software for Windows XP users is quite acceptable:
Minimum RAM = 128MB -- Recommended RAM = 512MB
Minimum processor speed = 300MHz -- Recommended processor speed = 1GHz

Audacity supports Windows Vista as well.

Mac users can use this download page.

Linux/Unix users can use this download page

For advanced users:

If you would like to have more effects while editing and processing recorded or imported audio files, then some optional downloads and plug-ins could be helpful for you:

    LADSPA plugins 0.4.15 installer (.exe file, 1.5 MB) - over 90 plug-ins.
LAME MP3 encoder - Allows Audacity to export MP3 files.
VST Enabler - Allows Audacity to load VST plug-ins.
Plug-Ins - Download additional effects and filters.

After installation please take a look at Audacity Frequently Asked Questions to find answers on possible questions. In addition, please read the Audacity Manual including Tutorials for beginners.

However, there s a large database of Audacity Tutorials on their Wiki pages, so if you d like to take a look for specific tutorial, then look here.

For our project, we need MP3 audio files which have to be exported from Audacity and uploaded on some free hosting websites or sent by email.

At this moment, we are looking for member ...

REALPOOR POTM Rule Changes

I believe that 2 weeks is more than enough to vote for the Realpoor POTM (pro of the month) So I have assigned some changes.

Nominating now takes place from the 15th-22nd of each month.
Voting starts on the 23rd of each month, and ends at the end of the month.
sorry about the fact that this will only allow to have 5 days to vote this month but next time you will have 7 days.
This change lets you reflect on who won and there is no rush until the next draw, and you have a solid two weeks to think about who to nominate :). This change takes effect now. You have until tomorrow to nominate and then the voting will be done.
If you win in a poll, the polls and nominations are going to be kept in an archive so you can show off in the future ;)
Peace all

How to -properly- download Youtube videos

Hello everyone.
Most of you should know that, when downloading youtube videos, you MUST change the file type to .flv . Thats where they are wrong.

It works better with a .wmv file type. you get EXACTLY the same result and you can play it through windows media player. You can then convert it for use on your PSP, phone or whatever.
Don't get fooled by the .flv thing. If you do this you can only play it through an flv player, so if you have any of those, rename the file type to .wmv.
Basically flv is the same as wmv, but its just dumber.

download vids from downloadyoutubevids.com, but .wmv remember.

if you want to convert them, use WinAVI mp4 converter (but you'll have to get the key sorry!) ...
