Sicdrummer99's Guide on Taking/Uploading Screen Shots!

Hello all, and I'm here to help you with taking a screen shot and putting it into your thread or post.

Reasons to do this?
-When you're selling an account, you may want to add a screen shot showing your stats and even writing a little message in game saying I'm such and such from RealPoor. This proves you are legit and own the account, and potential buyers are more comfortable trading with you.
-If you have been scammed, we require the accuser to provide proof of the scam. This ensures no one is falsely accused of scamming someone when they really haven't. Things to take screen shots (or screenies) of: PM's from and to the potential scammer, paypal statements or any other type of statements (bank, credit card, etc), forum posts. Remember, you must have proof in order to accuse someone of scamming.
-Want to show off a stat or skill you earned? You can get a screeny of it to prove to those stubborn people who claim you are fake :D

(I will post this guide in steps, the pictures correspond with the text above it.)

Step 1:
Load whatever it is you wish to capture and make sure you have it to where you can view it on your computer screen. You will see a button on your keyboardcalled Print Screen. Sometimes it's abbreviated to Prt Sc. Press this button and it will copy what you see on the screen. (Some laptops require the Fn key to be pressed to access the Print Screen function. If you need assistance, just PM me)

Step 2:
Open up the program called Paint. Then, click on the edit button, then paste. This will put the image you are capturing into paint, allowing you to edit the image and save it.

Step 3:
There's many tools and functions you can do with Paint, I'm not going to go through them all. However, one useful one is the eraser tool. You can use this to white out information you don't want to be made publicly, such as user names or IP addresses. Once you have the image how you want it to look, you must save it. Go to File, then click save. Sav ...

PayPal - Dangerous or Safe?...

PayPal - Dangerous or Safe?...
Afraid of having viruses or people trying to access your acccount? No worries here's an article from PayPal.
PayPal Security Key
Get an extra layer of protection with the PayPal Security Key - it's easy to use and portable, so you can access your account with confidence from just about anywhere.
What is it?
The PayPal Security Key creates random temporary security codes that help safeguard your PayPal account when you log in. It comes in 2 types, each with different advantages:

Security key token: This version is an electronic device - or token - designed to be carried on a key ring. It creates a security code for you every 30 seconds.
Mobile phone security key: You can get temporary security codes on your mobile phone by text messages (also called SMS).

How much does it cost?
The mobile security key has no costs, except your mobile provider's standard text messaging charges. Check with your mobile provider for details.
Each security key token is $5, and there's no monthly service fee or additional cost. Replacement tokens are the same price.
How do I get started?

Choose the type of security key you want. If you want the token, we'll ship it to you. For the mobile phone security key, all you need is your mobile phone.
Activate it from your PayPal or eBay account.

Chargeback FAQ
https://www.paypal.com/ca/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/securitycenter/sell/ChargebackFAQ-outside
What is a chargeback?
Chargebacks occur when buyers ask their credit card company to reverse a transaction that has already been approved. Common reasons for chargebacks include:

Item not received. Buyer pays for an item but never receives it.
Item significantly different. Buyer pays for an item but receives item significantly different than expected.
    Unauthorized use. A buyer&rsqu ...

How To Delete Recovery Questions!

Dear RealPoor members, here is a guide that shows you how to delete recovery questions on a account.
1. Once you have traded, make a appeal for a Stolen account.

2. Now, fill out the account information. (Prev Passes, current recoveries ect.)
Make sure you fill out most of it, so the appeal can be successful.

3. Now, hit Submit and the appeal will ne sent to Jagex. Now copy down the numbers they give you to confirm your appeal. (Write it down, to track your appeal!)

4. Next you will have to enter the numbers they just gave you to confirm the appeal. Example (P455875 E35765)
5. Wait 1 hour, and Jagex will reply to your appeal. If accepted, the recovery questions will be deleted.

Woah, that was one big April Fools prank!

Conficker virus Update on April Fools Day.
Yes, on April 1st, 2009 the infamous virus known as Conficker, was given a new set of instructions by its creator(s) or was told to carry out a new set of tasks. As of today, security advisors from McAfee as well as Norton still have no way to totally block the virus from attacking unprotected systems, but are beginning to discover ways to detect the virus and remove it from computers if successful.

The Conflicker virus infultrates computers by exploiting a flaw in the Windows Service Pack. Once infected with either Conflicker.A or Conflicker B. a computer is vulnerable to the most recent variant known as Conficker.C. So far, this Super virus has infected over 10 million personal computers and 350 million computers are expected to be vulnerable. The virus is able to block users from downloading updates from Windows, and from updating security software. So far it has not caused as much problems as was expected, but it is believed that eventually it will be able to hijack computers and steal valuable personal information.

Steps you can take to get protected and signs that you may be infected:

If you do NOT already have anti-virus software, i recommend downloading it from various sources or buying a program such as McAfee or Norton.

Try accessing a Security website such as McAfee.com or Norton.com, if you cannot access this sites, there is a very good possibilty that you are infected with the worm.

Download the most recent Windows Updates to help protect your computer

Try turning off the AutoRun feature on your computer to prevent getting the virus via USB ports.

For more information and more detail on how to keep your computer safe, please visit http://www.switched.com/2009/01/28/what-is-the-conflicker-virus-and-should-you-be-worried/ or http://www.mcafee.com/us/threat_center/conficker.html ...

Must READ before doing a trade.

CompleteGibberish:

We will no longer be using MSn/AIM/Emails, etc, as any proof or grounds for an accusation.

We do not have the ability to police or verify any actions done on or through those services so we will no longer be assisting in any issues involving them.

You do not use the Realpoor PM service, your choice.
You get scammed because you used MSN or AIM..too bad.

This clear enough ?

Any questions ?

------

Do all trades in the PM system, you can use instant messengers for quick talkquestions but all trades must be under the RealPoor PM SYSTEM if you want safer trading + have proof just in case it could be a scammer.

I've seen couple people so far post MSN proof that didn't know about this new rule. People can turn into scammers, I have seen lots of people build rep and go down, the lastest scam was 40M to change a person with 600 posts and multiple vouches...yeah it does not mean more vouches and posts = 100% They usually wait until the best opportinity.

You can use instant messengers to trade at your own risk, just don't complain after reading this.

Some virus cleaning tips

Hello peoples!
I just finished spending 2 days on fixing up a pals laptop that had the worse infection I have seen.
This will just be a short guide on how to eliminate some of the errors that were caused because of them and will hopefully help some people out.
!!!! YOU CAN LOSE INFORMATION BY MESSING UP, BE CAREFUL, I TAKE NO RESPONSIBLILITY !!!!

Some of this might need to be done in Safe-Mode. To get there hit F8 BEFORE the windows logo shows up when starting your computer. I normally just hit F8 repeatedly until it finally shows up. The regristy may also be needed. If you do not know what it is or how to get to it then you do not know enough about it for me to trust you with it. Google a tutorial for regedit.

1st issue encountered:
Windows XP would log out as soon as it logged in.

Turns out he tried to do his OWN fix and deleted userinit.exe. Copying the original from the Windos XP CD (named USERINIT.EX_ in the I386 folder) fixed the problem. In the registry it may have been changed to wsaupdate.exe so if copying the file over doesn't work. Try copying it and renaming it to wsaupdater.exe. If that works then you will need to search the registry and change the value. The copy can take place by putting your hard drive into another computer, or running the recovery console on the Windows XP CD.

This registry value should be set to userinit.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogonUserinit

After doing this explorer wasn't loading properly but I could log in and use ALT+CTRL+DELETE then select File - Run New Task and type in explorer to get it to load up. The fix for this will be discussed later.

2nd issue encountered:
Couldn't run a proper virus scan because the Trojans hijacked the DNS and wouldn't let downloads / updates occur properly.

Two things to do here are use Hijack This to identify if you have any Unknown Winsock LSP entries. The one I found was ntdll62.dll which was doin ...

How To Stay Safe Using Paypal!

Well, I think anyone who has sold has run into some serious problems when dealing through Paypal. Being an experienced seller, I will share some secrets as to how to protect yourself against chargebacks, and frauded money.

To begin, we'll take this from the approach of a GP seller. In other words, you are selling GP for Paypal money. First of all, it's important to accept the facts:

1) You can't prove to Paypal you gave them the items
2) You're breaking copyright laws
3) Paypal deems Virtual Currency trading as risky, and will Limit accounts that they find doing it.

With these in mind, it becomes quite obvious that you don't want to get into disputes when dealing with Paypal. You aren't going to win. So, here's the way to avoid getting ripped off.

1.) Be Realistic.

If someone is using THEIR money, realize that they are going to very careful. If the buyer is offering an abnormal price (6-7 dollars per Mil USD), then that's a good sign they're fake. Also, if they publicly say they'll go first, be very cautious. People using their money usually are verrry hesitant about going first, unless you have a great reputation.

2.) Talk To The Customer.

Talk to your customers on MSN before you do any transactions with them. By simply chatting on MSN, you can usually get a decent idea of where somebody is really from, how old they are, and why they're buying the gold. If your customer can't speak proper English, and seems childish, be careful. Also, if someone is rushing you to do a trade, just block them. Anyone rushing to trade you is trying to make you act against your judgement.

3.) Ask For Some Paypal Information.

Before your customer even pays you, make sure his account is VERIFIED. Also, it's extremely important that their ADDRESS IS CONFIRMED. These two factors are extremely important if you wish to protect yourself. Also ask them if it's their account, or their parents. Also make sure the address on their account is listed in the p ...

How to Catch a Mills/GP Scammer | Your Survival Guide

This guide is an all inclusive guide explaining how to catch a typical Mill/GP scammer.

First foremost thing is, there is a chance every person being 99% scammer. ] (Staff MMs excluded and are counted in rest 1%) Given the right chance and opportunity, people can turn in to scammers. The point is, how much money will make someone a scammer. Leechers for example, might scam for 1M because they don't have a long history in Sythe, a MOD position in here or high post count to loose. They will scam, get banned and simply come back again.

About MMs: In my Sythe history for exmple (thats 19 months) I've seen only 1 official Middleman Scam. So someone who talk about how MM might scam are pushing the limits. The chances of that person will scam you is 99% (as I mentioned above) To become an official MM, we have to go through a rigorous process including finishing five trades worth over 12M. You can see it by clicking here.

Once people become an official MM they accustomed to doing trades worth more than 100M. However, if you are doing trades over 100M, you can do it in installments with an official MM such as 20M or 10M per installment.

Lets see 15 ways to catch a wannabe Millsl/GP scammer:

Be vocal If you see someone trying to scam (someone trying to scam will break more than 1 of the ways mentioned below) then post in their thread saying they are doing this wrong (e.g: Use an offficial MM, 50/50 is dangerous etc)

Note: If someone is trying to buy 400M (and lets say he is a scammer), that doesn't necessarily means he is trying to scam big. Scammers are, well, scammers! They will settle/scam for low as 500k to high as your stupidity.

+| I don't trust MM/No MM: The person would deny using a Middleman. The reasons they would provide would range from MM might scam to I don't trust MMs . In all trades MM is highly recommended unless they are willing to go first.

+| Go First: The person would mention in his/her ...

What is the secret to having a successful trade.

Everything ok?

Hello All, This is Coinshopcollector revealing a new article on Safe trading. Other guides are kinda hard to come by because There are tips but not good enough to catch a scammer.

Okay, How do I have such successful sells and only 2 bad trades out of 36!
Here's how,

Post Count (It may not mean a lot but it makes a member more looked at)

Vouches (A seller and buyer exchange their self's a nice vouch as in we had a good trade)

How long has the user been a member on realpoor (Remember they can still scam, but it helps a little)

Is it to good to be true?

If someone is given a 100+ account for a pure with 70 str? This helps a lot!

Look in the HoS (Hall of Shame) has the user ever been accused of scamming?

If you are more trusted it's probably perferred you make the other user go first.

When there is a big transaction, i.e. $500 and plus, you may wish to ask a admin to check the I.P. Remember, They do not guarantee a good trade. Don't always do this either it bothers them.

This is a great way to find out if a user is a scammer or not. Good luck!

Your friend and fellow member
