What criteria must be cleared to ensure one is stupid ?
Well, a stupid person does NOT verify any claims made by a seller/buyer.
Does NOT USE the search engine to see if a persons NAME/EMAIL have been used and/or listed as a scam
Does NOT USE Google to check the persons NAME/EMAIL/SCREEN NAME
Uses AIM/MSN/Email/YAHOO and then has nothing but an easily edited log file to fall back on.
Fails to take screen shots of conversations
Fails to ensure that all data provided is correct
Fails to initiate a Phone call, followed up by a later phone call to attempt to verify if the user is at his house.
Fails to remember, No cell phones, only home lines.
Almost NEVER thinks that since it is a transaction for several hundred dollars ,I wonder if a paypal reversal might occur ?
Search peoples names,claims,info, etc,etc. Being able to Obtain an IP to verify any of the data is a step in the correct direction.
I SAY THIS ALL OF THE TIME>if you are doing a cash transaction in the US< pay or take payment with a POSTAL MONEY ORDER ONLY. Ensure the buyer fills out your personal info, your name and address, on the MO. If you are buying, ensure you have NOT agreed to mail to a postal box. Make sure you have their home PH# and then cross reference it with their Address they have given, that simple.
ANYONE who tries to rip anyone else off with a postal money order is on the fast track to 2-5 for fraud. You file a complaint and if you have the data needed they will take care of it from there. So much more security than PayPal/eBay , the same company. eBay has a half-assed " We could care less if you get scammed" CSR dept and it was carried over when they purchased PayPal, hence the no guarantees on virtual trades.
